The Opportunity

For Abbott Medical Greece, Structural Heart Division (SH), we are currently looking for a Sales & Therapy Specialist to join our clinical team for transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). The position will be a field-based role covering mainly the area of Thessaloniki and Northern Greece (90%) and occasionally other locations in the country (10%). The position reports directly to the Territory Manager SH.

Structural Heart Business Mission is to restore health and improve quality of life through the design and provision of device and management solutions for the treatment of structural heart disease.

As the Sales & Therapy Specialist TAVI, you'll have the chance to:

  • Provide Clinical support in the cath-lab for Abbott TAVI products to the physicians. The incumbent implements in agreement with the Divisional strategies and tactics to ensure market penetration, market share growth and the establishment of new accounts.
  • The position is also responsible for the management of products returned from the hospital in accordance with the official Abbott procedure.
  • Ensure that all questions of a technical nature from the field or internal sources are answered in an expeditious manner and reported to the competent authorities within Abbott

What You'll Do:

Site Selection

  • Follow selection criteria for site selection
  • Be collaborative with division partners in the territory planning
  • Show leadership in the decision process with all stakeholders (external and internal)

Patient Referral

  • Map Referral flow outside and inside the implanting sites
  • Call on referring physicians to present the TAVI technology and the study data. Organize outreach events for referring physicians: dinner presentations, CME courses, etc.
  • Optimize process regarding patient screening and procedure scheduling

Contracts

  • Supervise all contracts with hospitals
  • Manage relations with hospital management and purchase department
  • Monitor sales according to annual/quarterly and monthly sales revenue targets.
  • Regular customer visits, development of the sales territory, observe the market, maintain close contact to the KOLs
  • Increase sales within the base and establishing new accounts
  • Be responsible for effectively dealing with customer complaints and recommending consignment accounts where necessary.

Proctoring

  • Be proctor certified according to the training process
  • Provide technical support to clinicians during TAVI procedures. Demonstrate procedural steps for all involved physicians and staff at sites. Assist cath. lab. personnel with set-up and break-down for procedures and with product handling/inventory management Implement field-based physician and staff training programs.
  • Ensure compliance in performing the training as required by the training procedure
  • Ensure compliance in reporting product experiences according to AV requirement

Required Qualifications & Background:

  • BS/BA in life sciences or biomedical engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years Medical Clinical Support/Sales Experience, Medical training (RN, EMT, Perfusion, etc.) background strongly preferred.
  • Strong sales orientation: servicing accounts, working with complex multi-functional buyers, and identifying champions.
  • Strong clinical orientation: training clinicians and providing technical assistance during procedures, including troubleshooting.
  • Versatile: able to influence a variety of clinician personality types.
  • Compliant: respect all rules set by Abbott Organization.
  • Strong analytical skills: able to identify and resolve issues and to adapt best practices across Institutions.
  • Unsurpassed communication and interpersonal skills: to build relationships and obtain results.
  • Well-developed computer skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment that rewards contribution.
  • Willingness to travel extensively.
  • Proven record of achieved sales targets in previous position.
  • Proven track record in the clinical introduction of sophisticated therapeutic, procedure-enabling devices that requires significant clinician training; experience with products for use in interventional cardiology and cardiac surgery; experience in sales of new concepts; familiarity of echocardiography or other indirect imaging is strongly preferred.
  • Incumbent will be required to comply with all applicable laws and Abbott internal procedures when being present in a Cath Lab. Such rule includes wearing certain health and safety protection devices, e.g., lead apron/jacket.
