Sales Manager

The Sales Manager is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating overall sales activities and strategies across the country, while increasing sales, profits and market share on a long term basis. Managing distributors and sub-distributors by driving sales strategy and Abbott Core Value.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Building relationships with key customers, distributors, trade associations, and industry players to facilitate sales and increase positive visibility and adoption of Abbott products.
  • Driving execution of strategies and tactics in the field through extensive field travel, programs, and training/coaching of sales teams during national and local meetings.
  • Managing profit margins to company objectives; planning budgets, setting sales goals and assisting in creating reliable sales forecasts.
  • Monitoring and implementing activities critical to business needs (Customer Coverage, Doctor Meetings, Opinion Leader Contacts, Patient Programs, Cycle Meetings, etc.).
  • Assisting Human Resources with manpower planning, personnel selection, development of performance standards, reviews, compensation, employee development and training.
  • Partnering with Marketing, Medical, Legal and Regulatory to develop and execute product strategies.
  • Developing, motivating & challenging team members to achieve performance.
  • Conducting performance evaluations and taking corrective action when deemed appropriate.
  • Ensuring adherence to Company Sales policies and procedures.
  • Administering sales expense and actual performance against budget on a country level.
  • Promoting adherence to EHS policies, procedures, rules and regulations.

Minimum skill, education and experience:

  • Graduate in any discipline from reputed institute/university (preferably B. Pharm or B.Sc. and/or MBA from reputed university).
  • 5 – 8 years of sales experience, with 3 years of progressive sales management and/or marketing experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Can organize and lead teams.
