The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for calling on independent stores to sell products, present and get new items authorized, sell promotional programs, and perform merchandising activities. This role follows monthly priorities from business managers for each client and helps coordinate store events such as anniversary sales, demos, new store openings, and remodel expansions. The representative ensures that turnover orders are entered and forwarded to distributors for timely delivery.
Visit assigned stores within your territory on a monthly basis. Present new items to store buyers and secure orders. Present promotional activities to store buyers and secure orders, including off-shelf displays when possible. Access distribution on existing items to ensure they are being carried. Assist with merchandising needs for assigned products. Enter orders taken during visits into the turnover order system and transmit to the office for delivery by distributors. Coordinate and support store special projects such as demos, trade events, remodels, and new store openings. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of products and new items. Build and maintain rapport with the regional managers of clients. Communicate store issues, competitive activity, and trends to management. Maintain full distribution and display of products in assigned accounts. Rotate stock, clean and stock displays, and price merchandise as appropriate. Perform audits such as checking date codes and ensuring plan-o-gram compliance. Complete miscellaneous duties as assigned.
High School Diploma/GED Minimum five years of prior retail experience. Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds. Valid driver's license and ability to drive for extended periods. Availability for occasional overnight travel (meetings/food shows). Ability to work in extremely cold conditions (refrigerated and freezer sections). Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to speak and hear effectively. Physical capability to walk, stoop, kneel, reach, pull, grasp, and stand daily. Good vision and dexterity in using hands for equipment operation, including calculator, fax, telephone, copier, hand truck, pallet jack, hammer, screwdriver, drill, and case cutter. Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods.
