Job Description:

Altera is seeking an accomplished Senior Director, Sales – Aerospace & Defense to lead and expand our engagement with key government, aerospace, and defense customers. This role will drive growth through strategic partnerships, deep customer relationships, and innovative solutions built on Altera's industry-leading semiconductor technologies. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience selling into aerospace and defense markets, a strong track record of exceeding revenue goals, and the ability to influence and inspire high-performing teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the go-to-market strategy for the Aerospace & Defense segment in alignment with corporate sales objectives.

  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with prime contractors, government agencies, and ecosystem partners.

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities , ensuring a robust pipeline that supports both short- and long-term revenue growth.

  • Partner with product, engineering, and marketing teams to align technology roadmaps with customer requirements.

  • Negotiate complex, high-value contracts and ensure customer satisfaction through all stages of engagement.

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of sales professionals to consistently achieve and exceed targets.

  • Represent Altera at industry events, trade shows, and customer forums to reinforce brand presence and thought leadership.

  • Provide market insights and competitive intelligence to inform business strategy and product direction.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field; MBA or advanced technical degree preferred.

  • 15+ years of sales leadership experience , with at least 7 years focused on Aerospace & Defense customers.

  • Proven track record of achieving and surpassing multi-million-dollar revenue targets .

  • Deep knowledge of defense procurement processes, compliance requirements, and industry regulations (e.g., ITAR, FAR/DFARS).

  • Strong network across prime contractors, system integrators, and government agencies .

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed, and highly technical environment .

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
