Job Summary:

The Truck Sales Representative will be interacting with new and existing customers, analyzing their needs and recommending equipment, closing the sale, completing paperwork, and delivering trucks. You will be expected to act in an efficient, professional and effective manner to achieve sales guidelines and company sales goals. Much of your time will be spent making sales calls outside the office.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Responsible for sales of used trucks by providing up to four days in the Altoona office, and supporting new and used truck sales in the Cherokee and Fort Dodge markets bi-monthly or as needed. This will include becoming certified in selling of Isuzu truck product and representing all of Northwest Iowa in this capacity. Work in conjunction with sales manager to identify possible markets, customers and develop relationships with new and existing customers.
  • Demonstrate new and used vehicles which includes driving each vehicle.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all available equipment that may be added to the truck chassis.
  • Provide service to "walk-in" customers, both inside and out on the lot, as well as call-in customers to the dealership.
  • Promote additional services to meet customer/prospects needs.
  • Develop timely and accurate proposals with qualified New Truck and Lease personnel.
  • Analyze customer needs and determine needed specifications and sales strategies.
  • Maintain customer database provided by the Company.
  • Complete all reports/paperwork in established format as requested by management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills / Training/Education Requirements:

  1. A background related to commercial trucks and equipment, and sales, is beneficial, but not required.
  2. Ability to understand sometimes complex technical specifications and systems.
  3. Ability to drive a vehicle and obtain and maintain a commercial driver's license along with all appropriate endorsements.
  4. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing within the department and other areas of the Company as necessary.
  5. Ability to interpret and work from oral and written instructions.
  6. Ability to work with a variety of customers in a courteous and cooperative manner.
  7. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  8. Ability to operate all office equipment necessary to accomplish job duties such as computers, calculators, copiers, telephones, etc.
  9. Ability to legibly document data for record keeping purposes.
  10. Ability to remain calm and professional during peak periods of activity.
  11. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  12. Ability to work daily and as required.

Internal contacts will consist of co-workers, immediate and departmental managers and executives to exchange and provide information as well as to present and discuss information and/or issues.

Frequent external contacts with current and prospective customers.

Supervisory Responsibility:

No supervisory responsibility.

Physical Requirements:

Operates no tools, machines or equipment. No significant lifting.
