Business Development Representative
This role is ideal for a seasoned business development professional with a robust experience in identifying sales opportunities and fostering customer and partner relationships. You will play a vital role in generating proposals and quotes for new opportunities, thereby significantly contributing to our growth.
Responsibilities
- Develop and sustain effective relationships with both existing and new customers and partners.
- Identify and track sales leads and strategic partnering opportunities.
- Coordinate the generation of proposals, work scopes, milestone schedules, and price quotes for identified leads.
- Lead contract negotiations in coordination with the Director of Business Development and the CEO.
- Support various marketing and branding initiatives, including attending trade shows and conferences.
- Collaborate with team members, including systems, hardware, and software engineers, to support business development activities.
- Regularly report on the status of leads, opportunities, contractual actions, customer feedback, and market trends to management.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in business development within Aerospace and Defense, preferably in space systems.
- Strong understanding of technical specifications and standards relating to rockets, spacecraft, and other space-based systems.
- Proven experience in contract negotiations and handling bids/proposals, RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs.
- Ability to sell technical products independently, even when paired with a junior engineer.
- BA degree required, with a preference for a Master's degree in business, engineering, space systems, or a related field.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Existing relationships with major industry players such as Boeing, NASA, and Northrop are highly desirable.
- Experience in engineering with a transition to business development is a plus.
- Ability to obtain security clearance, as this role may require visiting high-profile client sites.
Work Environment
This role is based at an ITAR facility in Pasadena, California. You will be working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment within a specialized space technology company focused on designing and manufacturing space avionics and sensor systems. The company operates like a startup, with 35 employees onsite. Core hours are from 9 AM to 3 PM, allowing for flexible scheduling. The position involves approximately 10% travel, primarily for trade shows and client visits, with potential for international travel in the future. The preferred work arrangement is 100% in-office.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
