The Director Of Sales (DOS) is responsible for leading and driving the total sales effort at the Holiday Inn West I-10 in Mobile, AL. This includes managing the hotel's sales and marketing initiatives, building strong relationships with key clients and business partners, and achieving revenue targets across all market segments including corporate, group, government, and leisure. The DOS plays a critical role in maximizing occupancy, revenue, and market share while ensuring the hotel's brand standards are met.
Key responsibilities include developing and implementing strategic sales plans to achieve and exceed revenue goals for rooms, meeting space, and ancillary services. The role also involves identifying and targeting new business opportunities in key segments including corporate, SMERF (Social, Military, Educational, Religious, Fraternal), government, and group travel. The DOS manages a proactive sales effort through direct outside sales, client appointments, networking, cold calling, and industry involvement. Additionally, the position requires preparing and analyzing sales forecasts and reports to monitor performance and adjust strategies accordingly. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date customer and account records in the hotel's CRM system is also crucial. The role involves working closely with the General Manager and Revenue Manager to establish pricing, forecasting, and marketing strategies. Representing the hotel at trade shows, community events, and industry associations to build brand awareness and relationships is another key aspect. Leading and mentoring the sales team, ensuring performance goals are met and professional development is encouraged, is also part of the role. Ensuring all sales and marketing efforts reflect the Holiday Inn brand standards and align with IHG guidelines is essential. Collaborating with operational departments to ensure smooth execution of group business and special events is also required.
Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Business, Marketing, or related field preferred. Minimum of 3 years of hotel sales experience; prior experience with IHG brands is a plus. A proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets in a competitive market is necessary. Strong knowledge of the Mobile, AL market or similar markets preferred. Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and hotel sales systems (e.g., Delphi, Opera, or similar) is also necessary. Ability to travel locally for sales calls, events, and networking functions is required.
Work conditions include a full-time position with flexible scheduling as required to meet client and hotel needs. Some local travel required; occasional evening or weekend event attendance may be necessary.
