Supplemental Health Account Executive

The Supplemental Health Account Executive will be responsible for driving new business sales, existing business growth, and persistency for National Accounts. This role involves developing and executing strategic sales plans, building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, and ensuring the delivery of tailored solutions that meet the unique needs of our largest clients.

Key areas of expertise include:

  • Product solutions: Accidental Injury, Critical Illness, and Hospital Care products, including corresponding pricing and UW strategies
  • Enrollment solutions: Internal capabilities and external options
  • Administrative solutions: Billing and claim processes

The NA SHAE role is responsible for proactive and consultative outreach designed to increase the institutional knowledge of Cigna Supplemental Health Solutions in the large case segment. The NA SHAE partners with internal colleagues in distribution, marketing, product, compliance, underwriting, and other areas to deliver compelling and valuable solutions to present to our clients and broker partners. The NA SHAE is also responsible for relationship management with existing clients as well as external partners, including brokers and consultants and enrollment firms.

More specifically, the NA SHAE role will:

  • Drive Distribution Strategy. Develop and execute a strategy to grow Accidental Injury, Critical Illness, and Hospital Care product sales in National Accounts. The strategy will focus on clients over 3000 lives and take into consideration broker relationships, growth and retention strategies, competitive intel, local trends, and core product strategies.
  • Partner with Cigna Healthcare Team. The NA SHAE will work closely with our partners in Cigna Healthcare to uncover cross-sell opportunities within our Medical and Dental book of business and prospective clients that are entirely new Cigna, in addition to standalone prospects.
  • Collaboration with matrix partners. The NA SHAE will be a resource liaison for matrix partners to improve the competitiveness of our offering and drive meaningful innovation for our clients and customers.
  • Goal Attainment: The NA SHAE will be held accountable for their assigned Supplemental Health new business sales goal as well as growth and persistency targets.

The NA SHAE role is eligible for incentive compensation. Specific details will be addressed in an annual compensation plan. Components may differ year to year to include any or all of the following: achievement of sales goals, achievement of growth and retention goals, meeting internal expectations, effective territory management, executing market level strategies, meaningful collaboration with matrix partners.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 10+ years of relevant experience desired
  • Industry experience required
  • History of consistently delivering business results
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to work effectively and independently in a dynamic, rapidly changing, team-based environment
  • Must balance high-priority, long-term projects with short-term, immediate deadlines
  • Ability to foster collaboration, value others perspectives and gain support and buy-in for organizational proposals
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills, executive presence
  • Proven ability to lead in a heavily matrixed environment
  • Experience working with large national accounts preferred
  • Familiarity with the latest trends and innovations in Supplemental Health
