Business Development/Sales Director - ARMY

Our client is a team of experts and engineers who understand the challenges that organizations face in finding and implementing the best technologies and IT solutions to meet mission requirements. We work with our government customers in defense and civilian agencies to identify new technologies.

The Opportunity (General Summary): We are seeking a Business Development Director in the Army Customer account, specifically supporting the PEOs at Aberdeen Proving Grounds (APG), to identify leads, qualify and convert leads into value added customer relationships post-award. This director will establish trust-based customer relationships, lead customer problem exploration and solution identification, develop account and territory strategies, and conduct sales/BD growth activities within the U.S. Federal Government sector. Key responsibilities include advising customers on how technology, solutions, and software can support their mission. Sales will focus on product centric offerings with associated service and solutions.

Key Responsibilities (Principal Duties and Accountabilities *Essential Functions):

  • Create and win high pWIN new growth (sales, contracts, and higher-end contractual awards) through customer-obsession, trust, and innovation.
  • Oversee client relationship mapping, orchestrating account strategy while coordinating with a broad virtual team.
  • Be a trusted advisor to your customers by understanding their business and advising on selling technology, software, and solutions.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor by understanding your customers' business needs and advising on technology, software, and solutions.
  • Maintain an accurate pipeline and close deals within the assigned territory.

Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A

Requirements:

  • Must be a United States citizen with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance with the U.S. Government

Education:

  • Technical degree and background preferred

Required Skills, Experience & Abilities (required & verifiable):

  • 8+ years of directly supporting and developing business with Army customers in APG, bringing and existing professional networks of strong connections within the Army PEOs.
  • Must thrive in challenging, competitive environments that require innovative thinking and persistence.
  • Must be very comfortable with technical challenges and discussions as a thought leader.
  • Executive presence yet with authenticity; high emotional intelligence; executive communications (oral, written, and PowerPoint)
  • 6+ years of experience in technology, software, and solution sales. Ideal candidate has both commercial technology sales and Federal Government business development experience.
  • 8+ years of experience producing new business, negotiating deals, and maintaining strong C-level relationships.

Preferred Qualifications (not required but good to have-company does not have to verify prior to placement):

  • Experience promoting a customer success mindset in a "win as a team" environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite tools.

Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% of the time, which may include extended periods of standing, walking, or navigating airports and government facilities.

Work Environment: Professional office environment with standard office equipment (computers, phones, printers). Frequent interaction with clients, executives, and government officials in both in-person and virtual settings. Regular travel to customer sites, government facilities, and industry events. Fast-paced, deadline-driven environment requiring adaptability and responsiveness. Work may occasionally be performed in secure government facilities, requiring adherence to security protocols.

Summary (optional): This role is primarily hybrid, with a mix of remote/office work and on-site travel to customer sites or events.
