Job Summary
The Aggregate Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing the estimating, bidding, and sales activities for the stone division, sand division, and railyards throughout Oklahoma. This role will perform analysis of sales data to identify market trends, preserve key customer relationships, and provide oversight and direction to the sales team.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Drive Dolese safety culture for sales team, internal and external customers.
- Direct the daily sales activities and goals for the sales team
- Oversee the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) process
- Perform analyses and assessments of sales data, market changes, and customer purchasing activity to identify trends in customer buying habits and sales growth: identify target accounts, maintain customer base, and identify new product needs
- Manage bidding and pricing processes for aggregates: 10 quarries, 4 sand plants, and 3 rail yards
- Oversee the county bid process
- Coordinate with sales, quality control, operations, and logistics to resolve issues quickly and carefully to minimize our exposure and ensure the customer is satisfied
- Cultivate relationships with key accounts: existing customers, new customers, potential customers, and new business development opportunities
- Support transportation and logistics activities by providing material to inner company plants as well as to customers (commercial hauls) including, but not limited to, the selection and management of approved independent haulers
- Work with operations to manage customer expectations including forecasting, inventories, schedules, and specifications
- Take an active role in industry associations (ORMCA, OAPA, OMCA, ACCO, AGC, and ACPA) and maintain a legislative presence when necessary
- Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred
- At least 10 years of progressive sales or related experience required
- Sales management experience preferred
- Experience working in aggregate, ready-mix concrete, or a similar industry preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Broad knowledge of effective sales, estimating, and bidding techniques and processes
- Leadership and management skills, as required in selecting, developing, and managing an effective sales team
- Analytical skills as required in assessing and acting on sales and market intelligence, trends, and indicators
- Proficiency in the use of personal computers, including Microsoft Office, CRM, and spreadsheet applications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a positive attitude that fosters effective relationships
- Ability to deal with customers and effectively resolve matters and complaints of varying complexity
- Ability to multi-task and handle large workloads under time constraints
- Self-motivated with the ability to quickly learn new procedures and processes
- Strong public speaking skills and the ability to develop and conduct training
- Currently possess and maintain a valid driver's license and good driving record
Physical Requirements
- Lift, push, or pull objects of various dimensions up to 50 lbs. of weight occasionally
- Ability to repeatedly climb stairs and ladders
- Ability to reach, squat, and tolerate prolonged standing/sitting/walking
- Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects
- Ability to tolerate working in all environmental temperatures and weather conditions
- Ability to repeatedly walk on uneven surfaces
