Provide outstanding customer service while coordinating and participating in merchandise selling; open and close store; maintain and secure cash deposits; assist in product receiving, restocking, display, and price marking.
Operate point-of-sale cash register as needed, processing cash and non-cash transactions. Monitor lines and take appropriate action to reduce them quickly. Ensure the store is adequately stocked with merchandise, well-maintained and clean, and all shelves and coolers are neat and orderly.
Assist customers in selecting products and recommending additional purchases; answer customer calls and inquiries and resolve customer complaints; ensure appropriate loss prevention policies are adhered to.
Make work assignments in accordance with predetermined schedules; review the work of employees in lower classifications; assist in training new personnel.
Perform inventories as scheduled; take counts of sale, reduced, damaged and discounted merchandise; note markdown of merchandise and dispose of merchandise according to procedures. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level Education/Training:
Requires a high school diploma. Some college preferred. Experience: Work generally requires 6 months of customer service or retail store experience. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $18.00 to USD $24.52.
