This position will report to the VP Commercial Operation Intl that has also the direct responsibility of the commercial activities in Japan. The Senior Sales Manager at Exact Sciences Kabushiki Kaisha will be responsible for managing the sales function at the Company for the East Area, initially for the Oncotype DX Breast Recurrence Score Program.

The Manager will be directly responsible for all sales related activities within his/her area of competence including strategy development and tactical execution, personnel management and close communication and cooperation with Marketing, KAMs, Medical Affairs, Customer Service, and functional stakeholders. The candidate will drive a team of Sales Reps driving the promotion of Company's reputation as a technology-driven, evidence-based company of the highest integrity, ensuring the compliance with all applicable regulations in Exact Sciences and in the Japanese market.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of Oncology related Sales in Oncology Pharma products and/or molecular diagnostics/IVD in Japan combined with a proven direct involvement and track record in driving performance and delivering results in a timely and efficient manner.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide effective leadership and strategic direction for East Japan Sales Team.
  • Coordinate Sales activities to meet quarterly, and annual sales and revenue targets.
  • Conduct continuous assessment of the local business opportunities, establish key goals, and support the development of territory specific business plans.
  • Deliver profitable sales through the effective use of resources to ensure sales targets are achieved/exceeded by demonstrating personal accountability.
  • Work closely with Marketing Manager to keep abreast of market and environmental changes by gathering competitive intelligence and provide input to the Country plans.
  • Responsible for hiring; development and retention of new sales personnel as needed.
  • Work with MRs and strive for commercial excellence/Sales Force Effectiveness in execution of tailored territory plans.
  • Develop relationships with key customers, KOLs and other relevant stakeholders to support successful business growth.
  • Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.
  • Establish a meticulous, efficient, complementary working relationship with the Customer Service team to provide prompt, accurate and seamless support for processing orders and delivering final reports.
  • Work with other functional teams at the Company in Japan, as well as distribution partners and outside support service vendors to support the creation of a high functioning, coordinated organization serving customers.
  • Manage the staff members in the sales function in a constructive, goal-oriented manner, to drive performance, engagement, retention, and professional development.
  • Consistent demonstration of exceptional leadership qualities, including but not limited to the ability to attract and retain the best team, foster a culture of high performance, lead with integrity, humility, accountability, and courage, and set a clear vision to energize teams towards the future.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree or higher from a recognized university.
  • 5+ years of Oncology Related Sales or Marketing experience with international pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or lab corporation. IVD experience is considered a plus.
  • 5+ years in sales management in a business of significant size/complexity. We can also consider high potential candidates with less than 5 years' experience in the role (in that case the candidate will be hired with the title of Sales Managers).
  • Proven experience with leading personnel and demonstrated leadership in working with cross-functional departments in an international environment.
  • Proficient PC and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Fluency in Japanese and at least business level English (both written and spoken) is a must.
  • Authorization to work in Japan and ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Ability to travel at minimum 50% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

Employment Term: This role includes a 3-month probationary period during which employment conditions remain unchanged. Employment is on an indefinite-term contract, and a one-month notice period is required for voluntary resignation, in accordance with company policy. Employees may be required to work overtime based on business needs, including occasional holiday and weekend work, with compensation provided per company policy and local labor regulation.

Salary Range: 11 727 200 ¥ - 17 590 800 ¥

The annual base salary shown is a national range for this position on a full-time basis and may differ by hiring location. Additionally, this role includes either 30 hours of overtime per month or 10 hours of midnight work per month, depending on the position. This position is also eligible for a bonus.
