A Day in the Life of a Sales Manager

As a Sales Manager, you start your day by analyzing sales reports, identifying trends, and refining strategies to drive growth. You set ambitious yet achievable goals, monitor market activity, and seek new business opportunities, ensuring your team stays on target and aligned with overall objectives. Strategic planning and a keen eye for improvement guide every decision you make, keeping performance and results at the forefront.

Beyond metrics, you lead through mentorship and coaching, guiding your team through challenges, refining their skills, and celebrating their successes. You foster strong client relationships, engage key accounts, and ensure exceptional service, leveraging communication and negotiation skills to secure long-term value. Your leadership energizes your team, instills accountability, and drives momentum, making you the engine behind sales success with vision, precision, and passion.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead & support your team through prospecting, closing new prospects, and expanding wallet share with existing customers
  • Develop, implement, and execute your team's sales plan to exceed or achieve your stated sales goals
  • Establish a diverse network of relationships that include people of influence within our industry, key community partners, strategic partners, and prospective clients
  • Active in recruiting, hiring, and development, assisting in formal and informal training as needed
  • Leverage and utilize Salesforce as the primary sales tool of the organization
  • Actively participate in supporting the RFP team to ensure success through the process
  • Willingness to hold others accountable to agreed-upon standards and processes
  • Flexibility to travel 20-50%, including overnight
  • Valid driver's license required

Experience & Education:

  • 5+ years in solution-based selling with a proven track record of meeting/exceeding revenue goals
  • 4+ years managing and leading high-performing sales teams
  • Experienced in building and maintaining a strong book of business
  • Skilled at initiating and driving new business partnerships
  • Ability to balance personal sales performance while leading a team
  • Bachelor's degree and Salesforce experience preferred
