A Strategic Carrier Sales Representative will facilitate the achievement of business goals tied to high volume accounts through strategic carrier base development, providing and negotiating freight rates, and leveraging knowledge of the industry to influence the decision-making process.
Develops and manages the carrier database and expand GEODIS's services specific to high volume key accounts
Successfully understands carrier's operational capabilities, freight needs, and service area
Fosters and develops relationships throughout US with carriers based on key accounts current book of business in North America
Reaches and excels the required load coverage, on-time pick & delivery requirements levels and target margin goals, while maintaining a high level of customer service
Utilizes and displays sharp negotiation skills to ensure GEODIS provides the most cost-effective logistics solutions
Meets dispatching and check call requirements
Maintains reliable communications with operations team regarding changes in shipper pick-up and customer delivery schedules and potential service failures
Communicates customer problems, needs, leads and inquiries to the sales team
Provides shipment quotes to customers
Prioritizes available freight to efficiently and effectively cover all available customer loads
Other duties as required and assigned
Previous freight brokerage experience preferred
PC literate with experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Access and Excel
Ability to work well independently, occasionally with minimal supervision, and as part of a team
Ability to consistently follow existing processes, develops new processes, and maintains required standards, and work with the team to improve them
Exceptional customer service focus and skills
Must have a drive to succeed, confidence and superior verbal communication skills
Organizational and scheduling skills
Strong negotiation skills
Bilingual; English and Spanish speaking preferred, but not required
While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk.
