Responsibilities may include: reviewing and processing sales tax returns, payments, or other documents and information to verify accuracy and/or correct errors; manually processing sales tax returns; assisting taxpayers with payments, returns, applications and general sales tax information; reviewing reports for discrepancies; processing sales tax refund requests; performing entry level clerical accounting functions; providing support as an administrative assistant; and answering calls in a polite and professional manner to assist customers. Other tasks as assigned.
The ability to learn the complexities of tax administration as indicated by the task, by making wise, informed decisions and correctly executing tax policies and procedures which promote taxpayer compliance and tax revenue collection in accordance with the State's tax statutes. Be proficient in using Microsoft Word, Excel and other computer software. Ability to communicate with taxpayers and tax professionals in verbal and written form. Ability to multitask and manage assigned tasks.
