General Summary

This position is a three-to-four-month assignment that supports a materials sales representative. It focuses on helping build and maintain strong relationships with potential buyers to support sales goals and ensure success.

Essential Job Accountabilities

  1. Learn how a sales representative executes business development plans for defined targets to understand strategies that drive sales objectives
  2. Assist in identifying and developing prospects from current clients, referrals, and other sources to help ensure sales goals are achieved
  3. Learn how to prepare and issue reports on pipeline, sales forecasts, and market trends to support effective plant operations
  4. Assist in implementing strategic marketing plans and sales objectives to contribute to departmental success
  5. Provide input on client programs, marketing initiatives, and work in progress to strengthen client relationships
  6. Assist the sales team in obtaining market information on existing construction materials competitors, including sand and gravel, crushed stone, asphalt concrete and ready-mix concrete suppliers, to understand their capabilities and offerings
  7. Collaborate with the sales team to interface with owners' representatives, subcontractors, and agencies to identify material needs and generate leads

Education

  • High School diploma required
  • Minimum of two (2) years of post-secondary education from an accredited institution- such as a vocational program, college or university
  • Coursework should be focused on Business, Marketing, or a related field

Work Experience

  • Previous sales experience is a plus

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to generate leads and close deals
  • Good customer service, public speaking and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in high production environment and respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines
  • Demonstrated MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) skills
  • Ability to properly manage and prioritize resources and projects
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to effectively disseminate information

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to operate a computer keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. Base Hourly Wage Range:
