Job Family Definition

Sales Specialists & Consultants are product, services, software or solution specialists that are responsible for leading pursuit in their assigned focus areas. Collaborates with and supports Account Managers and provides specialist expertise within the sales team. Drives proactive campaigns to build the pipeline, uses specialized knowledge and skills to prospect, qualify, negotiate and close opportunities.

Management Level Definition

Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to solve complex business issues and is regarded as a subject matter expert. Frequently contributes to the development of new ideas and methods. Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors. Leads and/or provides expertise to functional project teams and may participate in cross-functional initiatives. Acts as an expert providing direction and guidance to process improvements and establishing policies. Frequently represents the organization to external customers/clients. Exercises significant independent judgment within broadly defined policies and practices to determine best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives. May provide mentoring and guidance to lower level employees.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for creating and driving NonStop Compute pipeline; capture leads outside of specialization and use closed-loop lead management to ensure assignment and follow-up by others.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of competitor offerings (e.g., IBM Z, open x86 HA platforms, payments middleware) in accounts to strategically position HPE NonStop.
  • Use NonStop expertise to seek out new opportunities and expand and enhance existing opportunities to build pipeline and drive pursuit.
  • Provide specialist support to Account Managers and input regarding business development and NonStop solution expertise.
  • Develop quota objectives and future direction for NonStop portfolio.
  • Establish consultative relationships with clients, up to and including C-level executives, by developing a core understanding of mission-critical business needs (e.g., payments, telecom, government, manufacturing).
  • Work with and leverage ISVs, resellers, and integrators in the NonStop ecosystem to deliver sales.
  • Represent HPE NonStop at customer events, industry forums, and executive briefings.
  • Direct and coordinate supporting sales activities, ensuring discipline in forecasting and CRM hygiene.

Education and Experience Required

  • University or Bachelor's degree; advanced degree desirable.
  • 8–12 years of advanced sales experience, with 2–3 years in product sales within mission-critical compute, middleware, or payments solutions.
  • Demonstrated achievement of progressively higher quota, diversity of business customers, and higher-level customer interface.
  • Proven experience selling complex enterprise solutions into financial services, telecom, or manufacturing
  • Project management skills and ability to lead cross-functional sales initiatives.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Recognized expert in high-availability computing and mission-critical solutions, with strong knowledge of HPE NonStop hardware, software, and services.
  • Deep understanding of competitor offerings (e.g., IBM Z, ACI, Lusis, open x86 HA stacks) and ability to articulate NonStop differentiation.
  • Ability to map customer workloads (payments, fraud/risk, telco signaling, analytics) to NonStop solutions.
  • Strong consultative selling skills; able to integrate industry knowledge into account strategy.
  • Proven account planning and accurate revenue forecasting skills.
  • Skilled collaborator; integrates seamlessly with Account Managers and cross-functional sales teams.
  • Demonstrates leadership and initiative in driving pipeline creation, negotiation, and deal closure.
  • Maintains expertise in IT industry trends, compliance (e.g., PCI-DSS, PSD2), and NonStop partner/ISV ecosystem.
  • Maintains credibility with C-suite decision makers; able to influence mission-critical investment priorities.
