Director of Inside Sales Support

Position Purpose :
A Director of Inside Sales Support leads Inside Sales Support Representatives that provides transactional and customer relationship support to the Outside Sales Representatives across managed account customers. The Inside Sales Support team focuses on activities such as quoting, order processing, and post sales fulfillment that drive customer loyalty and sales growth. The Director role is responsible for building and developing the best in class Inside Sales Support team, optimizing operational processes and productivity, managing team performance to achieve business goals and cultivating cross functional connectivity with outside sales, store and supply chain teams to ensure a seamless end to end customer experience. This role requires strong leadership, analytical thinking, a deep understanding of sales operations, and effective collaboration with both internal and external partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- 15% - Analytical Skills - Ability to interpret data and metrics to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities for improvement. Extract meaningful insights from data and industry intelligence to guide strategic decision-making. Evaluate organizational objectives and assess potential risks associated with decisions. Monitor performance metrics and implement improvements for continued success. Anticipate challenges and identify opportunities for growth and innovation.
- 20% - Communication Skills - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with the sales team, store team, supply chain team and other support functions such as HR, finance & IT. Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, including senior leadership, employees, and external partners. Deliver regular progress updates to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment. Facilitate training sessions, business strategy discussions, and provide clear directions on tasks. Build rapport and maintain positive relationships with customers, partners, and suppliers.
- 30% - Leadership & Management - Experience managing and coaching support teams and fostering a collaborative environment. Ability to lead and facilitate change management. Develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives to drive organizational growth and efficiency.
- Provide leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with company goals. Oversee day-to-day operations, manage budgets, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Inspire and motivate teams, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Mentor and support the professional development of team members, celebrating achievements and encouraging collaboration.
- 20% - Organizational Skills - Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Oversee workflow and delegate tasks to maximize productivity and resource utilization. Prioritize tasks and set achievable goals for teams and departments. Ensure company policies and procedures are followed, maintaining operational excellence. Manage complex production workflows and coordinate cross-departmental initiatives.
- 15% - Sales Acumen - A solid understanding of the sales process and how to support it effectively. Identify and pursue new business opportunities and partnerships to drive revenue growth. Develop and maintain relationships with key customers and stakeholders. Analyze market trends and competitive landscape to inform sales strategies. Collaborate with sales teams to set targets and achieve business objectives.
Direct Manager/Direct Reports:
- This position typically reports to VP of Sales or Sales Operations.
- This position has 1-9 direct reports.
Travel Requirements:
- Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions, there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Working Conditions:
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States
- Proven experience in inside sales leadership, preferably in a B2B or retail environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Working knowledge of Tableau.
- Working knowledge of presentation software (e.g., Microsoft PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to draw accurate conclusions from financial documentation.
- Ability to convey complex or technical ideas and processes in easy-to-understand terms to diverse audiences.
- Ability to negotiate, handle complaints, settle disputes, and resolve grievances with both internal and external customers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce.com, Microsoft suite).
- Strong understanding of sales, demand generation, and technology.
- Experience in customer-focused roles and servicing customer needs.
