The Cardiovascular Sales Manager plays a critical role in driving identification and adoption of CS procedures for the da Vinci surgical system. Partnering with sales leadership and staff in Clinical Sales, Capital Sales and Key Accounts, the Manager will identify and work with marketing to develop Key Opinion Leaders to pioneer and expand use of the da Vinci system in surgical specialties in initial stages of growth. Incumbent also need to develop super surgeons within 3 years (~2027). They will also partner with local sales representatives to coach, counsel and train them on selling to specialists in their assigned hospital accounts. This role is of a strategic, senior level sales professional who is focused on identifying and expanding the adoption of CS procedures that will drive the future growth of Intuitive Surgical in this specialty.

Expand da Vinci Specialty Procedures Utilization

  • Work with marketing team to develop Key Opinion Leader (KOL) for CS procedures
  • Develop super surgeons (at least 10) for procedures within the next three years
  • Collaborate with cross function teams regarding regional case observation sites & Epicenters
  • Through collaboration with sales leadership, conduct strategic market development activities e.g., MDE's, RTM's, Live workshops, Lap guru events, key conferences, etc.
  • Implement Consolidation Pathway Methodology
  • For KOLs, execute all sales activities in support of developing their proficiency as a da Vinci surgeon. These activities include:
    • Select appropriate case observation site.
    • Conduct on-site and wet lab training
    • Bringing value in first series of cases
    • Bring intra-operative & post-operative clinical value in initial surgeon case series
  • Development and leadership of advanced regional training programs
  • Serve as the market intelligence liaison for marketing and training teams
  • Conduct hospital and practice executive presentations

Elevate Area Specialty Sales Competency

  • Provide feedback to enhance representatives' ability to sell to CS specialty.
  • Identify area needs, coordinate and run competency programs with support from ASD and CSD's

Manage Key Initiatives

  • Leverage Specialty Sales resources to help scale launch of CS procedures and/or products
  • Align with Sales leadership and marketing to manage surgeon training resources related to training effectiveness ang advanced technology adoption
  • Analyze and impact targeted specialty procedure trends and manage appropriately

Required Skills and Experience (Specific skills, knowledge, and experience that an individual must possess in order to successfully perform in job)

  • Minimum of 10+ years sales experience including 5 or more years in medical device sales. Cardiac surgery sales background is a must
  • Excellent clinical selling skills and ability to quickly build credibility with a highly educated customer base
  • Track record of individual sales excellence
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complexity and work in an environment of change
  • Proven ability to influence peers
  • Effective communication skills across a broad organization with a variety of focus areas
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, dependent upon account distribution

Required Education and Training: Minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent required

Preferred Skills and Experience (As applicable - Specific skills, knowledge, and experience that are not required to perform the job, but are desirable to have)

  • Candidate with experience and sound understanding of the Clinical Sales process preferred along with high-performance track record
  • Management experience or management career track preferred
