Job Summary

The Head of US Sales - Cardiac Imaging & Structural Heart is responsible for shaping and executing the Interventional Cardiology (IC) Ultrasound commercial strategy to maximize profitable sales growth in a rapidly growing marketplace, including designing and standing up the U.S. sales and clinical team structure, developing and delivering a comprehensive sales strategy, leading a high-performing sales and clinical team, and fostering strong customer relationships.

This role sits adjacent to Electrophysiology (EP) and is pivotal to expanding J&J's leadership in Interventional Cardiology and Structural Heart.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Shape and execute the US sales strategy to drive top line sales results. – in line with the Business Plan- including defining and leading the monthly and annual sales objectives for all the sales and clinical personnel.
  • Meet and exceed sales and profit targets for the US Sales organization. Provide accurate sales forecasts and deliver tactical sales plans including quotas and account objectives.
  • Set clear sales goals, and key performance metrics for the US commercial team. Regularly monitor performance and provide constructive feedback and coaching to drive improvement.
  • Architect and scale the US IC Ultrasound commercial organization, design the sales and clinical team structure, territories and coverage model required to support rapid growth.
  • Build and professionalize a high performing team – recruit, train and develop sales and clinical professionals, ensuring successful planning and a scalable talent pipeline
  • Market expansion- Identify new opportunities, customer segments, and key geographies to unlock market penetration and drive incremental growth
  • Conduct regular sales meetings and performance reviews to assess progress against objectives and address any obstacles to success.
  • P&L and financial stewardship – manage the national sales and expense budget effectively to ensure optimal resource allocation and cost management Coach and manage (directly) the performance and competency development of direct reports. Lead and develop direct reports to ensure they coach and manage the performance of their teams.
  • Design territories and incentive plans to drive performance and coverage
  • Oversee the appropriate use, budgetary allowance, and customer interactions of areas per diem clinical support.
  • Responsible for developing and enhancing the clinical proficiency and certification of area team in a manner that prioritizes business results/relationships and attainment of Area business goals. Responsible for leadership development of employees.
  • Recruit, develop and retain talent in the US (e.g., selection, performance management, succession planning, development planning, retention planning, etc.).
  • Develop and execute customer relationship strategies to ensure effective relationships with key clinical executive commercial stakeholders, including hospital systems, IDNs and C-suite leaders
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining strong customer relationships in the US with key customers.
  • Partners with internal stakeholders (e.g., Marketing, Commercial Operations, Commercial and Professional Education, Clinical Science and Medical Affairs, Health care compliance etc.) to develop and execute strategic plans nationally and locally.
  • Collaborate with the broader cardiovascular leadership team (EP, structural heart, Abiomed, Shockwave, etc.) to ensure aligned execution and improve cross-portfolio synergies
  • Participate as an active member of the US Sales & Field Services Leadership Team to ensure effective execution of global and national strategies at a regional level.
  • Lead national projects for the Ultrasound field organization.
  • Create positive change and an environment of team engagement and motivation. Drive organizational development and change.
  • Infuse the Johnson & Johnson Credo values and the MedTech Electrophysiology Company culture into the organization
  • Understand, adhere to, and hold team accountable for adherence to Company programs, policies and procedures (e.g. pricing models, expense reporting, compensation, healthcare compliance, etc.).
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the US market dynamics and assess market conditions to develop and execute competitive strategies to grow market share in line with the Company's strategic direction.
  • Responsible for identifying and effectively communicating business related issues and opportunities to next management level (communicating sales performance, market trends, and strategic recommendations).

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a BA/BS, MBA is preferred, combined with minimum 12+ years medical device sales and commercial experience.
  • Minimum 12+ years of progressive sales management experience in the US medical device industry, including at least 10 years in national or large- scale leadership roles within interventional cardiology and/or structural heart.
  • Consistent track record of building and scaling new national sales and clinical organizations, including designing organizational structures, talent strategy and commercial operating models.
  • Prove experience introducing disruptive technologies, building and scaling new businesses, and driving market creation in Interventional Cardiology or Structural Heart.
  • Experience successfully leading high-end capital equipment and disposable revenue model sales teams.
  • People management experience required, managing regional or national multi-functional field teams (e.g., sales, clinical, etc.)
  • Ability to travel up to 60% is required.
  • Demonstrated success in engaging and negotiating with hospital executives, IDNs and C-suite decision makers.
  • Candidates must possess a valid driver's license issued in the United States and must successfully complete a background investigation, to include a review of your driving record history.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time particularly wearing a lead apron while observing EP cases

The anticipated base pay range for this position is: 173,000 - 299,000
