Market Expansion Opportunity At Kombo

Kombo is a YC-backed, fast-growing start-up, building a global unified API for HR, payroll, and recruiting systems.

Location: New York City, United States (On-Site)

Contract Type: Full Time

Comp Range: $80k - $100k (OTE) + Equity

About Kombo

We grew from 0 revenue to >8M ARR within 2 years and with a team of <50, and we are looking for a motivated new addition to the team responsible for market expansion.

We are enabling 300+ partners globally to focus on building their core product, while we power their integrations with thousands of customers.

About the Role

You will play a big role in one of the biggest levers we have for growing the company: generating demand, and will have a clear path to an AE role within 12 months.

You like the challenge of creating business opportunities by understanding our product and customers in-depth, hunting down prospects, drafting compelling messages, and always looking for creative ways to get more people excited about Kombo.

You will join Madalina’s team in GTM and work closely with the CEO, Commercial Lead, sales, marketing, and rev-ops. That being said, the team is still lean and you can learn and collaborate with everyone in the company.

If you want to learn the best practices of B2B product distribution from world-class advisors, get a lot of ownership quickly, and develop into a GTM expert, plus value being part of an excellent team that empowers you to grow, I think you'll love this job. Come talk to us!

Why Kombo

The opportunity for asymmetric career growth (fastest promotion cycles on the market towards AE), a fantastic team spirit, inspiring people, and impactful work – are only a few things that you'll find at Kombo. You'll be at the front of the steering wheel in our business – creating opportunities in your territory from scratch. If you want to learn all there is to know about product distribution at a high-growth company – this is the best way to learn about being an entrepreneur and creating demand.

We serve well-known global leaders such as JobGet, Paychex, Qonto, Moss, HeyJobs, Spendesk, Gem, etc., and have positioned ourselves as the leading global provider for integrations in the future-of-work space. Our early backers include Y Combinator, 468 Capital, and stellar Angels such as founders of Paul Forster (Indeed), Sultan Saidov (Beamery), Jean Deniz Greze (Plaid), Carsten Thoma (Celonis).

About You

You are curious and humble. You don't shy away from asking questions to deeply understand our customers and their needs, allowing you to articulate and adjust your pitch depending on who you're talking to.

You have excellent communication skills (written and spoken)

You are a problem solver. You strive to take ownership of your tasks and apply your analytical skills, structured thinking, and independent working style toward solving them.

You have a hands-on mentality. You default into action, want to gather first learnings fast and iterate on the progress along the way.

You want the fastest track to Account Executive (you are looking for the highest learning opportunity in your next job and are comfortable with a fast-paced, high-growth environment)

You enjoy working in person with a team (we have offices in NYC and Berlin, and value in-person collaboration)

Key Responsibilities

At any given time, only about 5% of your ICP is in the market for your software. Your goal is to figure out how to get 100% of that 5%, at any given point in time in your market.

We don't (and can't afford to) micro-manage. Your main responsibility is to generate demand. In the last 2 years, we have gathered many best practices and will give you full context on things that work. You can plug and play, but at the end of the day, you have full ownership in how you deliver your results (with a strong support network from within and outside the company).

To excel at this, you will fully understand our product, our customers, their needs and wants, where they spend time, and how their buying journey looks—and form opinions and practices that meet our prospects where they are.

You will learn and keep up with (changing) industry best practices. You will leverage external resources and our many advisors and partners to become a GTM expert.

If that's exciting, I would love to talk to you!!

With new challenges on the horizon (we're looking to 3x our team and revenue this year!), you're assured of growth and progress. In addition, we offer:

  • Competitive Salaries
  • Generous Employee Stock Option Plan (ESOP). You're a part of our company's future success.
  • Great company off-sites and monthly team events. We spend time together in person to strengthen our team. If you join now, you can still join the next one in Mallorca in November.
  • Access to world-class mentors and advisors (we are a young team and we hedge that by consistently learning from the best)

About the Interview

We want to make the process as simple, enjoyable, and knowledgeable as possible for everyone involved. We typically have 4 stages:

  • Short getting-to-know call (25 min)
  • Deep-dive into your background and role (1h)
  • Case Study (2h)
  • Meet The Team: lunch/ get to know the team you'll work with
