The Global Head of Sales provides leadership, direction, and resource stewardship to the Advanced Synthesis (ADS) sales function. ADS is one of Lonza's Business Platforms and focuses on classic and complex chemistry to the manufacturing of small molecules, highly potent APIs, antibody-drug conjugates and bioconjugates.

The Global Head of Sales is accountable for overall sales organization performance, the profitable achievement of sales organization goals, and for aligning sales objectives with Lonza's business strategy to enable and drive ambitious business growth. The position holder is responsible for defining and setting up an optimal sales force structure!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver the yearly sales budget focused on acquiring new customers and new programs
  • Partner with Commercial Development to implement commercial strategies, and complete commercial activities and processes in line with the ADS strategy
  • Drive commercial improvements: sales process efficiency, deal closure rate and speed, customer experience
  • Develop commercial demand in support of the North American growth ambitions of the ADS platform
  • Develop relationships with other Lonza sales teams including SEAM (Strategic Enterprise Account Management)
  • Develop Lonza's visibility and relationships with Biotech and VCs
  • Lead licensing sales activities related to Synaffix (A Lonza ADC acquisition) technology as integration of Synaffix within Lonza ADS unfolds

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a life science field like Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or Pharmaceutical Sciences.
  • Over 10 years of proven experience in Business Development and Account Management roles with demonstrated project leadership.
  • Strong leadership capability and influential skills
  • Understanding of the details of creating real value
  • Critical thinking and problem solving
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Track record of sales delivery both individually and with a wider team
  • Passionate about achieving goals

The annual base salary for this position generally falls within a target hiring range of USD 206,000 to USD 350,000. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including the location of the successful candidate, qualifications, skills, competences, experience, and job-related knowledge.
