The Assistant General Counsel will report to the VP/Deputy General Counsel for the Enterprise group within Lumen's Legal team. They will be responsible for managing and handling legal support for one or more regions within the Strategic Enterprise Sales channel. This role will partner directly with senior level Sales executives, tasked with the direct ownership of a high volume of complex and diverse customer contracts.
The Assistant General Counsel will also lead and manage a team of Attorneys and Contract Negotiators/Analysts responsible for providing legal support to Lumen Sales teams through drafting and negotiating a variety of agreements with enterprise customers. A passion for mentoring and developing talent is essential as they will support their direct reports by providing guidance, escalation support, and workload prioritization.

Lead and manage a high-performing legal team, overseeing resource planning, work-product quality, and team performance.
Evaluate cost-effectiveness of legal activities and identify opportunities for transformation.
Collaborate effectively across multiple functional areas within Lumen, demonstrating strong management and interpersonal skills.
Apply sound judgment, advanced legal expertise, and excellent drafting skills with a deep understanding of the business.
Handle a high volume of complex, material transactions independently and with urgency.
Deliver consistently high-quality legal work in subject matter expertise, analysis, communication, advocacy, and client management.
Serve as a role model and mentor, fostering team building, problem solving, and professional development.
Provide strategic legal counsel, manage legal risks, conduct analyses, negotiate transactions, and advise senior business leaders.
Proactively identify legal and business issues, implement solutions, and partner with business units to support strategy and mitigate liabilities.
Required:
J.D. degree from an accredited law school and an active license in good standing to practice law issued by any State Bar within the United States.
10-12+ years of relevant legal experience with 5+ years in a people leader role.
Extensive hands-on experience negotiating complex Sales deals with large enterprise customers.
Executive presence, articulate, and able to effectively communicate with senior-level Sales leaders.

Experience working in a technology company or large organization in a time of transformation.
Current people leader with direct team management experience, developing talent and managing performance.
A proactive, solution-oriented mindset, willing to embrace transformation and new ways of working with ability to thrive in an intense, fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and high expectations.
This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
Location Based Pay Ranges:
$171,447 - $228,596 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY.
$180,020 - $240,026 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI.
$188,592 - $251,456 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
