The job: The Vice President, Sales – Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MEP) is a critical leadership role responsible for defining and executing the national sales strategy within the MEP sector. This leader oversees a team of Regional & National Account Managers, driving growth across national MEP distributors, end users, and strategic accounts. The VP, Sales – MEP ensures alignment with corporate objectives, cultivates high-performance teams, and builds strong relationships with key stakeholders to deliver top-line revenue and market share expansion.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement a comprehensive MEP sales strategy aligned with overall business objectives and market penetration goals.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to set ambitious sales targets and ensure achievement of revenue and profit goals.
- Lead the development and activation of national and regional sales programs, focusing on MEP distributors, contractors, and end users.
- Sales Management
- Oversee the performance of Regional & National Account Managers, ensuring regional and national sales targets are met or exceeded.
- Monitor and analyze sales metrics, identifying opportunities for growth and areas for improvement across the MEP space.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration with product marketing, channel management, finance, HR, and engineering teams to support sales objectives.
- Business Development
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with key national accounts, including large MEP distributors, contractors, and trade associations.
- Drive the activation of channel and brand marketing strategies within the MEP sector.
- Provide competitive intelligence and market insights to inform strategic decision-making and maintain a leadership position in the market.
- People Leadership
- Build and nurture a high-performing sales leadership team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor and develop Regional & National Account Managers, providing guidance on strategic planning, performance management, and talent development.
- Champion the Performance Enablement Process (PEP) to identify and develop future leaders within the organization.
- Operational Excellence
- Ensure effective use of Salesforce.com and other business systems to track sales performance and key deliverables.
- Manage national SG&A and promotional budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to maximize ROI.
- Oversee event execution, planning, and forecasting to support MEP sales initiatives.

- Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Engineering, or a related field; relevant MEP/construction field experience may substitute for higher education.
- Minimum of 15 years of sales or distribution sales experience, with at least 5 years in a senior managerial role within the MEP sector.
- Proven track record of successful revenue and profit generation, with experience selling to high-level executives and C-suite decision makers.
- Strong ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of an organization.
- Demonstrated capability to lead, develop, and align a team with strategic objectives.
- Excellent financial acumen and experience in building and executing budgets.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and CRM tools such as Salesforce.com.
- Willingness to travel nationally up to 50% of the time.
