Job Description

Summary

The Clinical Sales Analyst provides analytic/technical support to optimize clinical review of data provided in RFP and finalist opportunities. Focuses on identifying clinical opportunities for savings and programs to meet clinical gaps identified in that prospect's data/claims information by employing analytical tools and an evidence-based approach to achieve lower net cost, better health outcomes, and higher levels of satisfaction for plan sponsors, and their members. The Clinical Sales Analyst works in concert with the Clinical Sales Consultant(s) and Principal, Clinical Sales (VP, Clinical Sales and Consulting) to prepare for strategic presentations to sales prospects. The Clinical Sales Analyst relies on data and performance indicators, as well as experience and judgment, to identify and present clinical savings opportunities. The Clinical Sales Analyst will also participate in preparation of case studies and clinical strategy presentations to target audiences including consultants and brokers as well as at industry conferences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Utilizes clinical rules, logic and specifications for identifying clinical opportunities for intervention; Focused on sales prospects.
  • Analyzes available data in RFP to assess clinical and financial value of programs and products to clients and suggest changes and enhancements to improve their current performance. Present relevant findings to internal and external stakeholders, including Sales team and prospects.
  • Coordinates clinical utilization analyses in collaboration with the Clinical Sales Consultant(s) and Principal, Clinical Sales and may participate in presentations to prospects, brokers, or consultants. Ensures timely and accurate review of data and can work within strict timeframes for delivery.
  • Manages, contributes and assists in current priority, projects, programs or initiatives as defined by supervisor.
  • Provides clinical subject matter expertise and combines with business operations knowledge to ensure clinical and business appropriateness and success;
  • Assists with related analytic needs to support recommendations being considered for sales prospects that align with both the prospect's and MedImpact's mutual goals of lower net costs and high clinical quality. The strategic recommendations may include: benefit design and formulary analysis and suggestions, provision of clinical drug information, trend driver analyses and corresponding recommendations f or rational drug formulary positioning, on-line system edits and restrictions, clinical products and programs to address those trends, and more.
  • Provides documentation of recommendations for clinically appropriate and financially beneficial clinical initiatives (e.g. lower net cost, generic programs, QA programs, clinical and specialty programs, and applicable rebate management);
  • Works with Trade and Account Team colleagues to provide clinical insight to bid responses;
  • Works with roposals team to respond to RFP questions related to clinical offerings;
  • Manage multiple projects and responsibilities concurrently and project manage one's own work to meet deadlines and deliverables as assigned..

Education and/or Experience

PharmD and 3+ years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, and 1 year of SME in respective areas

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and a proficient knowledge of Access, Excel and relational databases .

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Registered Pharmacist in the State of California or equivalent state.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Analytical skills with Health Informatics experience preferred.
  • Experience in promoting drug cost management programs preferred.
  • Experience in review of RFPs and clinical components of bid responses preferred.
  • Knowledge of FirstDataBank (FDB) and MediSpan languages, as well as P&T Committee processes and weekly FirstDataBank (FDB) and MediSpan drug updates.
  • Knowledge of DUE, DUR, and QI programs to meet plan, HEDIS, and NCQA guidelines is preferred.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Work Location

This position must work on-site at the San Diego Headquarters for purposes of providing adequate support to internal clients; being available for face-to-face interactions and coordination of work with other employees, colleagues, clients, or vendors; as well as for facilitation of quick and effective decisions through collaboration with stakeholders. Remote work is not an option for these purposes.

Working Hours

This is an exempt level position requiring the incumbent to work the hours required to fully accomplish job responsibilities and reasonable meet deadlines for work deliverables. The individual must have the flexibility to work beyond traditional hours and be able to work nights, weekends or on holidays as required. Work hours may be changed from time to time to meet the needs of the business. Typical core business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Travel

This position requires both domestic and international travel of up to 10% of the time. A valid passport and ability to leave the United States is required
