Technical Sales Manager
ACC (American Colloid Company), a division of Minerals Technologies Inc., is seeking a Technical Sales Manager. This candidate will be responsible for executing our technical proposition and supporting sales and marketing throughout the assigned territory for Metalcastings Products. 30% - 50% travel is required.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a focus on safety, following all established EHS policies/practices/procedures and actively participating in EHS activities, including risk reduction opportunities.
- Increase revenue and reach sales targets for all customer markets by:
- Continually supporting the sales and operations network to achieve the business goals.
- Working with existing distributors and direct customers to increase market share through technical sales calls and visits.
- Educating customers on sand, sand properties & testing and troubleshooting.
- Providing technical support to increase ACC brand awareness.
- Maintain and expand existing direct customer base on technical services.
- Manage and grow a pipeline of opportunities. Utilize strategic techniques to optimize success rate of opportunities.
- Provide on-site technical support to distributors and customers. This includes working at foundries and being active in a teaching role within foundry organization and could include technical service in areas regarding casting defects, quality issues and foundry processes in general.
- Educate customers on ACC products through regular contact and presentations. Provide technical support to get ACC products introduced to foundry buyers and users of the product.
- Increase brand awareness by representing ACC at local and national conferences and tradeshows. Educate customers by presenting at industry specific seminars and for continuing education events for associations.
- Meet and develop relationships with customers by scheduling and teaching sand quality regularly at a local, regional, and national level.
- Work independently to plan, organize, and manage territory travel schedule within assigned budget.
- Define and manage territory goals and provide manager up to date information based on opportunities, information from customer base, industry data, and economic trends.
- Develop, execute, and evolve technical strategy to support assigned monthly and annual sales goals.
- Manage daily activities of the sales cycle including sales calls, and follow ups.
- Provide a report of weekly activities and territory trends to manager.
- Develop new business through leads, cold calling, networking, and prospecting.
- Document customer interactions and opportunities for future references. Maintain continuity with key customer contacts regarding current and future opportunities related to specific foundry issues or conditions.
- Participate when needed to support and write articles in foundry industry trade magazines. This could include voice of customer feedback and identification of common foundry needs including test methods and interpretation of results.
- Work with sales, blending plants, lab personnel, supply procurement and other corporate departments to provide for customer requirements. These activities could include training & education opportunities to increase internal technical knowledge of ACC products and their use in customer applications.
- Provide input and participate in product development, including areas of interest determined or as required by customer.
- Actively participate in the implementation of sustainable improvement processes, such as 5S, Kaizen, Daily Management Control, Standard Work, Problem Solving and MTI OE objectives.

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in the Sciences or Business is desired.
- Minimum of 3 years of proven technical experience in a related metal casting industry.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong presentation, public speaking and communication skills required.
- Ideal candidate will also be proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Incumbent will be self-motivated, take initiative and be persistent when appropriate to accomplish necessary duties.
- Must possess the ability to work effectively independently and within a team environment.
- A proven track record of experience in successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously is required.
- English fluency (reading, writing, speaking) required.
- Additionally, the employee is expected to be adaptable/flexible to changing work assignments, have a high level of integrity, dependability, and self-control to maintain composure, perform multiple tasks at once, manage time effectively and efficiently, meet established deadlines, display a cooperative demeanor, read, understand, and follow all company, job specific and safety policies/procedures, and attend/use all required training.
Travel: 30-50% travel will be required.
Working Conditions: Working conditions require moderate lifting for up to 50 pounds at any given time. Work requires regular travel and requires regular multi-night travel as well as occasional weekend and/or evening work.
Safety: A new employee hired to perform the duties of this position is required to be provided New Employee Training by a qualified individual or through the online training system. Additionally, an employee must be provided further training if a job duty/task has changes that will affect the health and safety aspects of that employee's position. Additional refresher safety training will be required as management deems appropriate or as dictated by government regulations.
