Peterson Power Systems has a need for a Business Development Representative who will be based at our Hillsboro, OR location.
The Business Development Representative is responsible for driving sales growth by building and re-establishing trusted relationships with new, inactive, and low-activity customers. This role collaborates closely with the Sales, Marketing, Project Management, and Credit departments to uncover sales opportunities, onboard new customers, ensure customer coverage, and identify paths to influence buyers. Additional responsibilities include responding to sales leads, opening new accounts, supporting marketing efforts, and attending trade shows, conferences, and other industry events.

Meet in-person and build (or re-establish) trusted relationships with key contacts for:
New customers
Inactive customers
Customers with low sales activity
Develop and maintain a list of target customers throughout the assigned territory, including those outlined above as well as potential large unit volume electric power customers; determine path to influence buyers, establish working relationships, and find new sales opportunities.
Promote the SourceWell purchasing process to qualified customers and establish its use prior to sales opportunities; leverage SourceWell resources to build customer confidence.
Open new customer accounts, following established customer onboarding processes and working closely with Credit department.
Respond to new sales leads; provide information and proposals to customers and/or connect them with the appropriate Sales Representative.
Develop strong relationships and work in collaboration with Peterson Power's Sales team to achieve common goals, ensure customer coverage, and communicate sales opportunities and activity; provide details and information on projects in design and key customer contacts as needed.
Promote Master Sales Agreement (MSA) with potential repeat customers to help streamline purchasing process prior to actual sale of products.
Work with Sales and Marketing departments to produce promotional campaigns and materials and deliver content strategies that align with business goals and objectives.
Coordinate with Sales Representatives to schedule, organize, and ensure the success of customer marketing events.
Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Project Management teams to ensure proper project execution and provide feedback related to customers and projects.
Pursue continuous self-directed learning on all aspects of electric power generation including and not limited to: Caterpillar diesel and gas electric power products, other diesel and gaseous fuel systems, fuel treatment, sound enclosures, exhaust aftertreatment, vibration, cooling systems, electrical controls and switchgear, and automatic transfer switch systems.
Attend regional trade shows and industry association events to promote Peterson Power solutions and capabilities.
Travel away from base location up to 60% of the time in and out of territory to visit job sites; attend trade shows, conferences and other marketing events; and attend meetings at customer, vendor, and Peterson locations; Operate personal or company vehicle as needed.
Maintain regular, punctual, and predictable attendance.
Associates degree from a fully accredited college in a closely related field; and a minimum of five (5) years of directly related experience in sales, diesel engines, rotating machinery, and/or electric power distribution systems, preferably in a heavy industrial environment; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Must maintain a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
