Sales Director
Role Purpose:
The Sales Director is an integral part of the leadership team of the One Pfizer Sales Organization and reports to the Customer Engagement Lead. There are three Sales Directors, each leading either Primary Care, Oncology or Specialty Care sales teams. The Sales Directors lead the development and implementation of key field strategies and tactics for their respective businesses, leveraging a direct sales team and securing the overarching One Pfizer sales needs.
The Sales Directors are focused on developing and driving our One Pfizer sales strategies aligned with our Vision for Growth and North Star aspirations. The Sales Director strives to identify issues and opportunities and develops metric driven action plans that will deliver positive business outcomes.
Core Responsibilities:
- Sales Leadership: Works closely with Sales Lead, Sales Directors, Business Unit leads, Marketing and other cross-functional teams to ensure the Sales Organization provides best in class sales effectiveness.
- Leadership and Strategic Input: The Sales Director will be an integral part of their business leadership team and actively represents the field perspective in the cross-functional execution of strategic initiatives to achieve business objectives.
- One Pfizer Sales Initiatives: The Sales Director will lead company wide sales initiatives (if applicable) with a One Pfizer approach by leveraging head office and sales leadership to ensure the needs of Pfizer Canada are met and implemented successfully.
- Field Force Direction: Inspires and leads their field force and Regional Business Managers in the achievement of the business objectives.
- Product Performance Optimization: Aligns with Marketing to ensure that appropriate and required promotional tools are developed, and that the field force is appropriately trained on them and deployed to achieve optimal product performance. Identifies emergent market needs and translates them into programs to maintain cutting-edge competencies and knowledge in the field force.
- People and Budget Management: Ensures the attraction, retention and development of top talent to support the achievement of the businesses' national objectives, and optimal management of the sales division's budget. Develops innovative approaches to field force incentivization, aligns compensation with company standards, ensures rewards for high performance and acts rapidly to address underperformance.
- Field Force Effectiveness: Identifies and drives enhanced future sales capabilities through initiatives to continuously improve the effectiveness of the field force. Ensures skills development of the field organization to maintain a best-in-class organization. Spearheads the evolution of field sales and account management roles to address changing customer needs and evolving market dynamics.
- Customer Relationships and Advocacy: Develops relationships with key customers and organizations where applicable.
- Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
- Proactive collaboration with Compliance to ensure sales interactions are executed in a compliant manner in our competitive landscape. Identifies and reports adverse events and product complaints as per corporate procedure, including Your Reporting Responsibilities (YRR) training.
The Ideal Candidate Possesses the Following Qualifications:
- B.Sc. or B.B.A in business management or health sciences, MBA an asset
- Five years of experience at a senior pharmaceutical sales/marketing management level
- Previous experience leading a team of managers at the field sales level is an asset
- Ability to communicate effectively and negotiate at a senior professional level
- Demonstrated understanding of the Canadian pharmaceutical industry
- Deep understanding of the transactional flows and influence patterns within the health systems that ultimately lead to Pfizer's products being dispensed to patients
- Leadership and demonstrated business acumen
- Strong strategic and analytical skills
- Established people development and team-building skills
- Ability to manage change effectively, to negotiate, impact, influence and to persuade others
- Bilingualism (English and French) - the incumbent must be able to communicate well in English, as his or her duties require interaction with stakeholders and colleagues outside Quebec and Canada.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $147,150 to $245,250. The salary range provided applies to Canada only and does not apply to any other locations outside of Canada.
