Heavy Duty Truck Salesperson Responsibilities:
- Cultivates assigned territories and accounts to meet or exceed goals for unit sales, market penetration, and profit margin for heavy duty trucks.
- Sell, buy and trade trucks
- Ability to prospect and grow new accounts, maintain a high level of customer satisfaction among all assigned accounts, maintain thorough knowledge of all products and services sold by the company
- Must be highly organized and motivated
- Plans and directs the used truck marketing activities of the dealership and branches assigned.
- Plans, organizes, directs and controls the efforts of remarketing personnel
- Develops strategies and procedures to efficiently meet sales goals
- Analyzes the financial information and develops budget plans, and procedures to ensure financial goals are met.
- Evaluates Used Truck Department performance against established targets and standards and takes appropriate action as necessary.
- Controls used truck inventory turns and gross profit, through analyzing market potential for used trucks.
- Establishes and maintains satisfactory relations with customers, outside wholesalers, dealers, and others.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Ability to train, supervise and motivate a team
- Able to make recommendation on hiring, disciplinary actions and termination
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written with the ability to effectively communicate via face-to-face and by phone
- Excellent customer services skills
- Computer proficiency
- Knowledge of financial accounting, sales, and legal information including state and federal regulations.
- Understanding of generally accepted sales practices and ability to communicate this information to other employees
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimal without digital support
- Ability to negotiate
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions
- Ability to understand and follow work rules and procedure
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people, interact well with others and work well in a team environment
- Ability to supervise and make decisions
- Able to work well under pressure while assisting a wide variety of customers and fostering relationships with key industry contacts
Heavy Duty Truck Salesperson Requirements:
- A high school diploma or GED is required. College degree in Business preferred. Combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.
- A minimum of three years' experience in truck sales preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret truck specification lists and various other technical bulletins.
- Ability to demonstrate or display extensive product knowledge to customer and staff to assist with purchase decisions.
- Must be highly organized, detail oriented and results driven.
- Ability to prioritize and handle numerous tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to read, listen and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in order to prepare official correspondence to customers and other sources.
- Effective computer, mathematical and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of financial accounting, sales, credit and insurance, and legal information including state and federal regulations.
- Minimum 5 years sales experience
- A valid driver's license is required.
- $30,000-$55,000 yearly + commission with significant earning potential.
