Joining us on an initial 6 month contract (working holiday visas accepted), our Finance Business Partner is a strategic partner to the Sales teams, providing data-driven insights and financial leadership to drive informed decision-making, enhance profitability, and support long-term sustainable growth. The role is critical in ensuring financial stewardship by collaborating on key business decisions impacting profitability and cash flow.

Job Description

Business Partnership

  • Act as the key financial advisor and partner to Sales leadership, including Sales Director, National Business Managers, and Regional Sales Managers.
  • Provide fact-based insights, challenge assumptions, and influence decision-making with actionable recommendations.
  • Drive understanding of trade terms agreements, customer P&Ls, and joint business plans and conducts financial analysis and scenarios to support commercial outcomes
  • Partner with Sales team to ensure trading terms reflect customer contractual terms and are reflective of the CPM Bucket structure
  • Evaluate new product launches and strategic initiatives, ensuring profitability and alignment with business goals. Prepares Value Chain analysis for planning cycles, updating for incremental promotions.
  • Perform scenario planning, pricing simulations, and ROI analyses to support business cases.
  • Promotional Effectiveness analysis and reporting together with RGM team.

Trade Spend Governance

  • Monitor and improve trade spend governance to reduce overspending and enhance accrual accuracy.
  • Lead monthly meetings with sales teams to review volume and trade spend for current month and year-to-go forecasts, update CPM with real-time data based on scan and depletion data.
  • Drive timely processing of claims, ensuring all claims are reviewed and settled within 30 days.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure accruals are updated accurately and reflect business performance.
  • Identify and address risks and opportunities related to trade spend management to ensure alignment with financial goals.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Deliver concise, impactful monthly performance reports, highlighting variances, risks, and opportunities.
  • Leverage data analytics tools (e.g., SAP, BI, Quantium) to generate insights on performance and identify R&O.
  • Present financial performance updates to key stakeholders, articulating drivers and strategic implications.
  • Oversee month-end processes, ensuring accurate reflection of sales performance and key drivers. Finance.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to reconcile results and align on updated forecasts.

Systems & Operational Excellence

  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity in key financial systems for Sales, including Customer Profitability Management (CPM) and BI reporting across Volume, Revenue, Trade Marketing and Indirects.
  • Lead key reporting from CPM and including planning processes and scenario analysis • Be a super user of CPM, our Sales & Customer profitability planning tool.
  • Champion data quality by ensuring planning inputs by the Sales team are accurate, relevant & reliable.
  • Lead process improvement & establish best practices within CPM. Including special projects with the Global CPM Team.
  • Oversees the maintenance of pricing, CDS and customer hierarchies in CPM and SAP.
  • Optimise reporting processes to reduce time spent on data preparation and increase time for strategic analysis.
  • Promote compliance with Group Controlling guidelines and internal policies.

Qualifications

  • Degree Qualified in Accounting, Finance or Business
  • 7+ years' experience in Commercial Finance, preferably within an FMCG sales role
  • Deep understanding of sales mechanics, trade terms, and their financial implications
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial systems (knowledge of SAP & Hyperion is advantageous)
  • Strong business partnering skills - able to influence outcomes and handle challenging commercial situations in a professional manner
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. Capable of communicating precisely and effectively with internal stakeholders up to Executive level
