Inside Sales Representative 1
This position is part of the Inside Sales job family, responsible for promoting and maintaining sales by originating and developing leads, performing sales (over the phone or email), and handling incoming inquiries. The role is key in selling both fabricated and non-fabricated steel to industrial establishments using metallurgy and product applications. The representative manages customer relationships, processes orders, provides delivery and product details, and supports the sales process, occasionally performing outbound follow-ups and coordinating with operations and the Test Reports Department.
Eligible Inside Sales Representatives participate in a quarterly Sales Incentive Program designed to reward performance in alignment with company goals. Incentives are based on individual gross profit billed, as well as a pooled bonus distributed based on team performance and sales management-defined programs.

Function in the job involves sedentary work, which includes sitting most of the time, and occasionally exerting up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Essential job duties include:
- Selling products for distribution to business and industrial establishments or individuals at sales office.
- Serving as the primary contact for customers, maintaining customer relationships and addressing issues with assigned accounts.
- Managing customer accounts to grow business opportunities.
- Developing sales strategies and action plans to assess buying potential and product requirements.
- Developing new prospects and interacting with existing customers to increase sales.
- Responding to incoming calls and email inquiries; taking and processing sales orders.
- Determining pricing and delivery charges using computer systems and customer history.
- Coordinating with the Test Reports Department for certification requirements.
- Resolving customer issues and discrepancies.
- Maintaining customer records in automated systems.
- Making outbound follow-up calls and cold calls.
- Highlighting product features and answering technical product questions.
- Monitoring customer satisfaction and promoting continuous improvement feedback.
- Entering and following up on quotations in appropriate systems.
- Negotiating pricing and agreements within guidelines.
- Facilitating execution of agreements and coordinating with operations.
- Staying up to date on industry knowledge, competitors, and business trends.
- Maintaining working knowledge of company products, services, and policies.
- Collaborating with sales and operations teams to increase sales penetration.
- Adhering to all safety processes and protocols.
Required skills include:
- 1-2 years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- High School diploma/GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Strong knowledge of sales principles, customer service processes, and the metals industry.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong virtual presence and listening skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
- Sound decision-making skills based on analysis and judgment.
- Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with coworkers and customers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
