Outside Sales Representative

The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for selling non-fabricated steel to industrial establishments, developing and maintaining customer relationships, and meeting sales targets. This role includes regular in-person visits, market analysis, and collaboration with internal departments.

This position reports to our Hopkinton, MA location; however, we are seeking candidates based in Vermont, New Hamshire, and Maine, covering that regional territory.

Compensation: Base salary of $60,000 - $78,000 per year plus commission.

Function in the Job

Job Function

  • Maintain and grow current customer base.
  • Prospect and develop new business opportunities.
  • Introduce new products and services to customers.
  • Provide market information and product knowledge to clients.
  • Prepare, negotiate, and administer contracts and formal quotes.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints and issues.
  • Maintain accurate sales records and mailfile information.
  • Collaborate regularly with Inside Sales and other counterparts.
  • Complete and submit expense reports and call logs.
  • Attend specialized product and sales training sessions.

Required Skills

  • 2–5 years of outside sales experience, preferably in the steel or industrial sector.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Compensation Range

The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $60,000.00/Yr. - USD $78,000.00/Yr. depending on experience, qualifications, and location.
