Middle Market OCIO Sales And Client Service Role
Location: Toronto (in-office) or remote in the province of Quebec
In this role, you will support our Middle Market OCIO sales and OCIO client service functions. This role will work closely with our Head of Middle Market Institutional Sales, our Senior Director, Canada Institutional and the broader Institutional Canada team.
This hybrid role combines institutional business development with strategic portfolio advisory, cultivating new relationships across corporate, multi-employer, public pension plans, healthcare systems, and non-profits while supporting existing OCIO clients. You will partner closely with the team to deliver high-impact investment solutions, drive client engagement, and expand Russell Investments' presence in the Canadian institutional market.
Travel within the region for relationship-building purposes will be required. The amount of travel will vary depending on business activity.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development
- Partner with business development colleagues on the Institutional Canada team to develop territory plans and execute OCIO sales strategies aligned with growth objectives.
- Identify, research, and qualify new OCIO prospects using data-driven targeting and market insights.
- Prepare and deliver presentations, strategic RFP responses, and finalist meeting materials.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of OCIO prospects and contribute to firm-wide sales goals.
- Support marketing and positioning efforts through thought leadership and industry engagement.
Client Strategy & Portfolio Management
- Serve as a primary resource for strategic investment advice, including asset allocation studies, portfolio implementation, and liability-driven investing (LDI).
- Lead asset-liability modeling for pension plans and spending studies for endowments and foundations.
- Promote Russell's investment products, positioning strategies, and enhanced solutions (e.g., LDI, Sustainable Investments).
- Ensure regulatory and compliance reporting requirements are met for Canadian institutional clients.
- Enhance the OCIO client service model and maximize retention through proactive relationship management.
Relationship Management & Collaboration
- Act as a senior relationship manager for key institutional clients, ensuring exceptional service and strategic alignment.
- Collaborate across internal teams to deliver unified client experiences and leverage cross-functional expertise.
- Maintain accurate CRM records and contribute to sales analytics and reporting.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or related field required; Master's degree, CFA, or actuarial designation (FCIA/ACIA/ASA) preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in institutional investment advisory, client management, or sales.
- Proven success with retirement plans, endowments, foundations, and other institutional investors.
- Deep knowledge of capital markets, investment policy, strategic asset allocation, and portfolio construction.
- Strong communication, presentation, and consensus-building skills.
- Registration as an advising representative (portfolio manager).
- Bilingualism and familiarity with Canadian regulatory frameworks are assets.
