National Sales Manager - Orthopaedic Sector

Responsible for driving revenue growth, managing a team of sales representatives and agents, and building relationships with surgeons and hospital staff to increase market share for orthopaedic implants, instruments, and related technologies. Lead the sales strategy for the assigned territory, which includes managing product launches, developing client relationships, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Experienced Orthopaedic Sales Representatives or Sales Managers must maintain customer relations and establish new relations through constant communications and in-person appointments. This position is specifically responsible for maintaining expert knowledge of our market leading product portfolio and using this information to drive sales or motivate sales people to drive sales. This professional will be consulting with surgeons (with whom you may have an already established track record of success) in the operating room regarding the use of our implants and instruments. This role is defined for an established Orthopaedic Sales Representative or Sales Manager who will be responsible for achieving predetermined sales goals and quotas. This role demands strong leadership and requires the professional to set him or herself as an example for all team members to follow.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Sales Strategy & Execution: Primarily responsible for meeting and exceeding territory sales objectives by targeting, promoting, and selling products to orthopaedic/trauma surgeons, hospital procurement, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Communicate with current and new customer accounts regarding a variety of topics, including product updates, changes to product portfolio, and educational programs.
  • Implement new sales plans and effective marketing strategies to position the organization competitively and to meet/exceed territory objectives.
  • Identify the needs of new prospects and develop appropriate responses (written, telephone and face-to-face).
  • Cross-sell additional products or manage new product introductions as they become available.
  • Address any problems that arise at the account.
  • Participate in and attend sales meetings and professional association meetings outside of regular business hours, as required.
  • Team Leadership & Management: Recruiting, training, mentoring, and managing sales representatives or independent agents, often spending significant time in the field (up to 80%) to drive growth.
  • Relationship Management: Establishing and strengthening relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), surgeons, and hospital staff to drive loyalty and account penetration, and by developing and implementing sales strategies.
  • Operating Room Support: Providing technical assistance in the operating room during surgery, which may require after hours support for trauma cases.
  • Inventory & Consignment Management: Managing consignment stock, instrument sets, and sample inventory within hospitals to ensure readiness for procedures.
  • Market Intelligence & Reporting: Collecting competitive data, staying current on industry trends, and providing regular sales forecasts and reports to senior management.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Support compliance and the principles of responsibility by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information; protecting the assets of the organization; acting with ethics and integrity; reporting non-compliance; and adhering to applicable federal, state & local laws and regulations, accreditation & licenser requirements, and Company policies & procedures.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: Proven experience in orthopaedic or trauma device sales for 5+ years, with demonstrated success in managing a team.
  • Education: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Medical Science, Nursing, Marketing, or Business) is often preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of orthopaedic surgical procedures (arthroplasty, trauma, Sports Med) and medical device applications.
  • Leadership & Communication: Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to influence and persuade a sophisticated audience of surgeons and healthcare professionals. Strong public speaking and communication skills.
  • Operational Skills: Experience with CRM systems, Microsoft Office.
  • Certification: Valid driver's license CRICE (Certified Representative in Sterile Field) certification.
