About the Role
Manage print books and B2C sales for Springer Nature books through distribution accounts, library suppliers and booksellers. Think strategically about print books performance and work on initiatives to increase efficiency and grow sales. Assume e-book responsibility where budget exists in Tier2/3 Institution. Provide feedback on results, promotions, and market conditions and collaborate closely with the South Asia Sales Team as well as with other relevant Springer Nature departments and the overall global trade team.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial:
- Achieve/Surpass budget expectations for the respective region
- Develop and implement sales strategy for the region in collaboration with the Sales Director
Channel Management:
- Manage existing accounts and develop new business opportunities for print and eBooks
- Identify new channel partners for unique business areas
- Understand the needs of the channel partners and provide tailored sales & marketing information/quotations
- Create annual business plans with the key trade partners
- Support and enable accounts to generate business from the trade and Institutions
Promotions:
- Visit Institutions and libraries in consultation with our Trade Partners
- Attend trade shows, meetings and publishing conferences as required
- Identify Institutes/Universities of Importance in the respective region
- Get recommendations for print books for libraries from the identified Institutes
- Create database for the Librarians and Head of Departments for the entire region
- Create an annual plan of coverage and activities and follow it rigorously
- Win adoptions for new textbooks in Institutions
- Pitch ebook models where budget exists in Tier 2/3 institutions
Reporting:
- Deliver monthly sales reports and monthly forecasts to the Sales Director
- Share regional market information/trends with Trade Sales team/colleagues
Collaboration with Internal stakeholders:
- Close collaboration with colleagues in Editorial, Sales, Marketing, Customer Service/Fulfillment, Logistics, Data and Finance
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Sales preferably from publishing industry.
- Minimum graduation or equivalent degree
- Good sales & negotiation skills
- Must be well organized, collaborative and self-motivated
- Must be able to work with deadlines
- Basic knowledge of MS Office/Google Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Willing to travel as required
