Trading Career Opportunity

Launch your trading career on a high-growth desk working across Canadian, U.S., European, and international carbon compliance markets. You'll get real responsibility fast, direct exposure to senior traders, and a clear path to owning P&L as you prove yourself.

As part of our sales trading team, you'll specialize in carbon compliance markets in Canada, the U.S., Europe, and other global jurisdictions—working with products such as EU ETS and UK ETS allowances, WCI and RGGI allowances/offsets, and Canadian federal and provincial compliance systems.

This position requires 100% presence at Targray Head Office Monday to Friday. Who you are:

  • Entry-level role: Up to 2 years' experience in sales, trading, research, consulting, or another analytical, commercial role.
  • Commercial and analytical: Confident working with numbers, probability, and logic; quick thinking on the phone; persuasive in both written and verbal communication.
  • Adaptability & Growth Mindset – You actively seek out feedback, learn quickly, and turn insights into improved results.
  • Entrepreneurial Spirit – A self-starter with a strong sense of ownership, initiative, and a bias toward action.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and Grow Your Portfolio: Proactively source, qualify, and onboard new counterparties through consistent high-volume outreach, relationship-building, and pipeline management.
  • Execute High-Impact Trades: Quote markets, negotiate competitive prices and terms, and close transactions with speed, accuracy, and commercial insight.
  • Own Market Intelligence – Monitor market structures, regulatory changes, price trends, and compliance requirements across multiple global carbon markets. Translate complex developments into clear, actionable strategies for the trading desk and senior leadership.
  • Identify and Pursue New Opportunities: Research and map emerging jurisdictions, carbon credit schemes, and compliance programs, providing data-backed recommendations to management.
  • Accelerate Your Growth: Collaborate with experienced traders, leverage a knowledge-sharing culture, and apply best practices to continuously improve your market impact and performance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field (Economics is a strong asset).
  • Master's degree in Economics or an MBA is an additional asset.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; confident cold calling and relationship building.
  • Evidence of high achievement (academics, athletics, competitions, work, or projects).
  • Strong quantitative reasoning and critical-thinking skills.
  • Language requirement: English is required for this position as this role will regularly interact with stakeholders across Canada, US, and other countries across the globe where English is the common language. Due to the significant high volume of interactions with these English-speaking stakeholders, which is inherent to this position, it is not possible to reorganize the company's activities to avoid this requirement.

Employee Benefits:

  • Beautiful, spacious, and modern workplace environment.
  • On-site gym and yoga room reserved for employees.
  • Medical and dental insurance.
  • Retirement Savings Plan with employer matching.
  • Subsidized healthy lunch program with fresh meals served daily.
  • Free on-site electric vehicle charging.

Diversity & Inclusion: Diversity and inclusiveness are at the heart of who we are and how we work. We are committed to fostering an environment where differences are valued, policies and practices are equitable, and our people feel a sense of belonging. We welcome and embrace the diverse experiences, abilities, backgrounds, and perspectives that make our people unique and help guide us.
