Sales Account Manager
As a contributing team member, the Sales Account Manager will report directly to the Team Leader of Sales. This position involves regular interactions with the Team Leader and other sales managers, with a focus on cultivating relationships with assigned accounts in the Illinois/Wisconsin region. You will be accountable for building relationships, selling new items, and prioritizing efforts against the plan. This role requires cross-functional collaboration with various business units and trade teams to build new business, protect core business, and create a competitive advantage.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and nurture professional relationships with assigned accounts within the market to achieve business objectives.
- Engage stores and decision-makers with a clear plan. Develop a new business target list with a supporting strategy.
- Gather and maintain key insights for all assigned accounts, including size of business, product opportunities, competitive set, timing, and potential hurdles.
- Stay informed on industry and category trends to enhance planning.
- Track progress using the tools provided, reporting status so all applicable parties are aware.
- Manage all strategic initiatives.
- Provide sales support at customer events. This may include, but is not limited to, product sampling and presenting key features and benefits.
- Identify the customer and their needs. Recognize opportunities and pain points. Analyze competitor positioning and strategies to counter them.
- Schedule calls and visits to drive business growth. Prioritize accounts with clear reasoning. Prepare with relevant programs, pricing, and promotions.
- Deliver results and gather feedback for continuous improvement. Build and maintain strong distributor relationships to reach critical mass.
- Create a detailed plan and report progress often. Validate results consistently.
Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 2 years sales experience.
Education
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
Communication Skills
