Outside Sales Representative
We are seeking a driven and results-oriented Outside Sales Representative to join our growing team. This individual will play a key role in generating new business opportunities, maintaining and nurturing existing customer relationships, and contributing to marketing and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, customer-focused, and thrives in both prospecting and relationship management.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Prospecting
- Identify and target new opportunities through market research, lead lists, and industry resources.
- Conduct cold calls, networking, and in-person visits to open doors and build relationships.
- Follow up on leads, mailers, and sample requests to convert prospects into opportunities.
- Coordinate and deliver product demonstrations, often in partnership with factory or supplier reps.
Account Management
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing accounts through regular phone and in-person follow-ups.
- Review account history, quotes, and orders to anticipate future needs and identify cross-selling opportunities.
- Address customer feedback regarding quality, delivery, and overall satisfaction.
- Build relationships through regular touchpoints, including professional lunches and site visits.
Special Projects & Events
- Participate in joint calls, factory tours, and supplier visits.
- Support trade shows, booths, and industry events to promote brand awareness and generate leads.
- Collaborate on marketing blitzes and targeted outreach campaigns.
Marketing Feedback & Strategy
- Complete detailed call reports capturing contacts, applications, objections, opportunities, and volume potential.
- Provide insights on effectiveness of marketing materials, mailers, sample packs, and website messaging.
- Share market feedback to improve hit ratios and refine sales strategies.
Training & Support
- You'll receive hands-on training in:
- Company capabilities, materials, and industry applications.
- Overcoming objections and communicating value propositions.
- Use of sales tools, product literature, application questionnaires, and reporting systems.
- You'll also have ongoing support from Inside Sales and Customer Service Representatives for quoting, prototypes, sample requests, and order processing, as well as from Accounting and Quality Control teams.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in outside sales, business development, or account management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-first mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, follow through on leads, and close opportunities.
- Comfortable with cold calling, in-person meetings, and attending events/trade shows.
- Familiarity with manufacturing, converting, or industrial sales is a plus.
