Private Event Sales Manager

The Event Sales Manager will be responsible for generating private event revenue from sales through various outreach channels including their own network of contacts and incoming leads. Additionally, the event sales manager will coordinate and collaborate with the food & beverage team to ensure seamless transition from a sale to execution of all events. The Event Sales Manager reports to the Director of Sales.

Essential Functions

  • Exceed monthly and yearly revenue targets set forth by Director
  • Build relationships to provide repeat business
  • Proactively create opportunities for new business with existing customers
  • Provide superior and professional customer service to clients
  • Perform some responsibilities on day of events, including entertaining clients and fulfilling large group commitments
  • Communicate regularly with food & beverage team and provide updates on market trends or needs for sales offerings
  • Participate as needed in planning of event with F&B team to ensure sale meets operation expectations
  • Provide event client feedback to food & beverage team after events
  • Maintain the required number of outbound sales calls set by Director
  • Research, analyze, and develop special event profit generating opportunities
  • Proactively solicit new business by, among other things, making sales calls and presentations, attending local trade shows, and engaging in other client prospecting in order to increase the size of the Organization's potential client database
  • Create leads and develop long-term relationships in the event planning, production, and promotion communities, and with other relevant companies, organizations, and groups
  • Prepare and provide required reports to the Director of Sales including special event revenue reports, profit and loss statements, sales recaps, and departmental projections
  • Obtain feedback from clients following each special event to determine and analyze client satisfaction, Organizational performance, and event-related risks and liabilities
  • Perform other related duties, tasks, and responsibilities as required.

Must have sufficient mobility to perform tasks including constant reaching, bending, stooping, wiping, pushing, and pulling for extended periods of time. Must be flexible to work extended hours due to business requirements including late nights, weekends and holidays including all games and major stadium events.

Must have the ability to lift, push, pull approximately 25lbs. Must be able to stand and/or walk for up to 10 hours during a single shift, while navigating ramps, stairs and elevators.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related area of study preferred and 2-3 years' related experience (sports, attractions, or hotel industry preferred)
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively at all levels both internally and externally
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe
  • Able to make individual sales while effectively managing a sales team
  • Able to simultaneously manage a high level of detail across multiple projects
  • Able to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Able to balance internal priorities with client expectations
  • Resourceful, innovative and forward-thinking, with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Expertise in financial analysis and planning, budgeting, and marketing
  • Working knowledge of local/regional markets, venue operations, and special events industries
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to effectively evaluate risks and liabilities of special events and venue rentals
  • Be adept at negotiating with clients when required within the guidelines set
  • Excellent self-accountability for high personal standards of conduct and professionalism
  • Process-oriented, highly organized, fast/accurate, works well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in spreadsheet, database, and word processing programs
  • Experience in a union work environment preferred
  • Must be flexible to work extended hours due to business requirements including late nights, weekends and holidays including all games and major stadium events
