Service Sales Representative

The Service Sales Representative is responsible for all functions regarding the prospecting of, sales, and booking of maintenance service and repairs in their market. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Primarily the correct and profitable estimating, quoting, and sales of maintenance service and repairs of vertical transportation equipment according to company guidelines. This includes all product lines of traction and hydraulic equipment both commercial and residential as well as accessibility products, dumbwaiters, and material lifts or other conveyances.
  • Develop relationships with and work with owners, developers, and management companies to write contracts and bid proposals.
  • Learn how and keep up to date with our different contracts, competitor contracts, and consultant contracts and specifications.
  • Learn and keep up to date with the various lines of vertical transportation.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with our vendors to stay up to date on products and Codes.
  • Participate in local association meetings and events to further exposure of our services.
  • Maintain excellent customer relations through personal contact and service.
  • Learn and properly use the Jonas system for estimating and billing etc.
  • Prepare proper and professional quotations and proposals per Company guidelines.
  • Follow up on all quotations until project is awarded and if lost, pursue bid tabs.
  • Conduct project negotiations to benefit the company regarding profit, products, and terms.
  • For repairs, work with area foreman to perform complete site surveys including adequate and abundant pictures to show all equipment, product data, access, dimensions, and work by other's items.
  • Work closely with area superintendents and foreman to conduct services and learn about products and hours to service and repair.
  • Work closely with area service technicians for leads for service and repairs.
  • Assist with surveys - onsite and checking ones done by others to match what you quoted.
  • All other duties as assigned by the local Manager or General Manager.

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to carry out each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Education/Experience:
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • One (1) to four (4) years of progressive and relevant work experience.
    • Knowledge of laws, rules, and standards pertaining to elevator maintenance and repair.
  • Language Ability:
    • Effectively and proficiently communicate in both oral and written form with employees, clients, vendors, and management.
    • Must be able to read, interpret, and work from mechanical and electrical diagrams and blueprints.
  • Computer and Office Skills:
    • Experience with PC platforms and knowledge of e-mail, word processing, and spreadsheets.
    • Technical and functional knowledge of all company specific software programs.
  • Personal Skills:
    • Ability to interface with employees, clients, vendors, and management.
    • Good time management skills, ability to prioritize duties, and attention to detail.
    • Regular and predictable attendance.
    • Must be able to work independently and get along with others.
  • Physical Demands:

    • The employee will regularly talk, hear, and drive.
    • Frequently the employee will sit; stand; reach with their hands/arms; and be subject to repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement.
    • The employee will occasionally access elevator pits and machine rooms by ladder or by stairs and will be called upon to climb flights of stairs up to 20 stories.
    • The employee may possibly be required to ascend, descend and work atop scaffolding or platforms.
    • Occasionally the employee will work in confined spaces, work in high dangerous places, and in risk of electrical shock.
    • Visual activities include clarity of vision at twenty (20) feet or more, clarity of vision at twenty (20) inches or less, three-dimensional vision - ability to judge distance and space relationships, precise hand-eye coordination, and ability to identify and distinguish colors.
    • The employee will occasionally lift up to thirty (30) pounds.
  • Environmental Conditions:
    • The employee will regularly drive to multiple client locations each day.
    • The employee will be exposed to dust, noise, vibration, fumes, odors, poor ventilation, extreme temperatures, cramped quarters, and inadequate lighting.
