The Role

The Sr Dir Data Center Sales will lead the development and operational execution of Lumen's data center sales initiatives. This role is pivotal in driving innovation, cross-functional alignment, and measurable business outcomes across infrastructure, cloud, and AI enablement. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in telecom and data center operations, with a proven ability to lead complex programs and influence executive stakeholders. This role will report to the VP of Data Center Strategy. It is designed to complement the VP's strategic oversight by focusing on execution, operational rigor, and cross-functional enablement.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Partner with the VP of Data Center Strategy and Sales to plan and execute the sales roadmap for Lumen's data center business, ensuring alignment with corporate transformation goals and market demands.
  • Customer Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and executive stakeholders, serving as a trusted advisor to drive long-term partnerships and revenue growth.
  • Sales Strategy Support: Collaborate with sales enablement and strategic engagement teams to ensure pursuit quality control and scalable sales lifecycle processes.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product, engineering, procurement, and sales teams to deliver integrated solutions that enhance service delivery and cost efficiency.
  • Infrastructure Expansion: Oversee bandwidth upgrades, PoP enhancements, and metro market expansion initiatives to support high-speed, low-latency network capabilities.
  • AI & Cloud Enablement: Champion multi-cloud and AI integration strategies, positioning Lumen as a leader in next-gen data center services.
  • Operational Excellence: Implement governance models, service definitions, SLAs, and performance metrics to ensure consistent delivery and accountability.
  • Talent Development: Lead organizational design and talent acquisition efforts to build a high-performing sales team.

What We Look For in a Candidate

12+ years of experience in telecom, data center operations, or cloud infrastructure leadership. Strong understanding of AI, edge computing, and hybrid cloud technologies. Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors. Location Based Pay Ranges $177,122 - $295,201 in these states: AL AR AZ FL GA IA ID IN KS KY LA ME MO MS MT ND NE NM OH OK PA SC SD TN UT VT WI WV WY $185,980 - $309,969 in these states: CO HI MI MN NC NH NV OR RI $194,837 - $324,717 in these states: AK CA CT DC DE IL MA MD NJ NY TX VA WA
