Sales Development Program

Clearwater Paper's Sales Development Program is designed to equip early-career professionals with the skills, experience, and confidence to launch a successful career in sales. Over the course of the 12-month program, participants will receive structured training, hands-on experience, and mentorship from seasoned sales leaders to gain a deep understanding of our products, customers, and sales strategies. This is a great opportunity for motivated individuals eager to learn, grow, and contribute to a high-performing sales team. After successful completion of the program, participants typically transition into an Account Manager position.

In addition, you will:

  • Travel to some of Clearwater Paper's locations in Michigan, Texas, Pennsylvania, Indiana, and South Carolina to gain firsthand knowledge on how our product is made.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of the company's product offerings and their application.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the sales cycle, from lead generation to closing details.
  • Assist with customers in a way that supports their business plans and goals so that Clearwater Paper is viewed as their business partner and preferred paperboard supplier of choice.
  • Contribute to the team's overall sales targets and objectives.
  • Shadow experienced Sales Managers and join customer calls to gain first-hand experience in solution selling.
  • Learn and practice various sales strategies and techniques.
  • Participate in product development or new product trials, and help coordinate among the customer, operations, and sales & marketing teams.
  • Assist with sales-related tasks like preparing quotes, processing orders, and maintaining customer records.
  • Learn to maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all customer interactions and track activity using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or related field (required).
  • Prior sales or paper industry internships and experience (preferred).
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Customer Service Orientation.
  • Sales Aptitude.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Motivated and driven.
  • Close proximity to an airport and the ability to travel as needed.
