Representative - Outside Sales
Job Description
As a Representative - Outside Sales, you will be responsible for developing new prospects and interacting with assigned customers to increase sales and margin of the company's products and/or services. Your primary focus will be face-to-face selling and account management activities to meet sales revenue. You will be expected to engage with all levels of the customers' organizations including technical, operations, supply chain and executive management. You may be required to develop and deliver sales bids, presentations, proposals and/or product demonstrations.
Responsibilities:
- Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities across onshore data center and industrial projects through prospecting activities, including cold calling, targeted outreach to owners, developers, and contractors, and leveraging referral networks within the electrical contracting ecosystem
- Lead sales and commercial engagement for onshore projects, supporting both data center and industrial customers, including hyperscalers, colocation providers, industrial end users, EPCs, main contractors, electrical subcontractors, and system integrators
- Support early-stage project development through design-in activities and specification influence, collaborating with consultants, contractors, and integrators during planning and pre-construction phases
- Evaluate customer technical, operational, and commercial requirements related to electrical infrastructure, including power distribution, grounding, cabling, containment, and other EES solutions
- Drive revenue growth and margin optimization through solution-oriented selling, value-added services, supplier-enabled programs, and disciplined pricing strategies
- Engage customers to understand mission-critical data center requirements, including redundancy, uptime, scalability, regulatory compliance, and speed-to-market, positioning Wesco Anixter EES as a strategic partner
- Build and manage strong supplier relationships, participating in joint sales calls, solution validation, and bid strategy alignment for major data center opportunities
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders across solutions, operations, supply chain, and project support to ensure consistent, execution-focused delivery
- Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction through proactive communication, alignment throughout project execution, and timely resolution of technical or commercial issues
- Leverage Wesco sales management and CRM tools to support prospecting, pipeline development, opportunity tracking, forecasting, and supplier planning
- Prepare and present accurate and competitive quotations, independently or in coordination with inside sales and sales support teams
Qualifications:
- High School Degree or Equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree is preferred
- Prior sales experience required, outside sales preferred
- Ability to travel to current and potential clients and suppliers
- Strong sales, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Three (5) years of industry experience preferred
- Demonstrated experience in the electrical solutions space, with working knowledge of both data center and industrial power and infrastructure requirements
- Prior experience selling to or supporting data center operators, industrial end users, EPCs, electrical contractors, subcontractors, or system integrators
- Ability to develop and deliver technical and commercial presentations to diverse audiences
- Solid understanding of onshore project execution models, including tendering processes, project phasing, and contractor-led environments
- Ability to travel to current and prospective customers and suppliers
- Strong sales, negotiation, and stakeholder management capabilities
- Ability to develop and deliver technical and commercial presentations to varied audiences
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Working Environment:
Outside Sales – Work is generally performed in an office environment, but employee may need to travel to customer sites or warehouse facilities.
** This role includes the opportunity to earn commission in addition to base salary, with earnings tied to your individual sales performance.**
