Responsibilities include generating new business by proactively seeking and building client relationships, developing and maintaining strong relationships with corporate accounts, travel agencies, and group clients, conducting sales calls, property tours, and presentations to potential clients, negotiating contracts and closing sales to meet revenue goals, collaborating with the operations team to ensure client needs are met and events run smoothly, and monitoring market trends and competitors to identify new opportunities. Qualifications include previous sales experience in hospitality or related field preferred, strong communication, networking, and negotiation skills, goal-driven and ability to meet or exceed sales targets, self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented, and knowledge of hotel operations is a plus. Professionally sells the products and services of the hotel, banquet and restaurant. Special emphasis is placed on guest room sales, concentrating on low and shoulder season business. Essential duties and responsibilities include making solicitation and service calls in person, through mail/email, and by telephone on assigned accounts to promote and sell hotel and restaurant facility space and services, making solicitation calls to potential new accounts and perform outside sales calls the majority of the work week (over 50%), responding to inquiries from customers, prospects, other hotels and the corporate office, preparing proposals and confirmations for group bookings and conducting tours of the property with prospective customers, informing other departments of upcoming events and working with them to ensure proper planning throughout the property, maintaining and using the accounts tracing system/database and customer account files to generate future business, following company credit and deposit policies when booking business, preparing sales reports and records sales calls and activities as required, monitoring guest satisfaction through follow-up surveys, thank you cards and calls, participating in industry and civic organizations to promote business opportunities, tracking activities of the competition and the market and the hotel's position in the market, participating in sales department meetings and weekly management meetings, planning and participating in sales blitzes and outside after hours functions including chamber outings, participating in the development and implementation of marketing plans and action plans, giving input to the development of special promotions or packages, and developing ideas to build occupancy. Meets and/or exceeds individual quantitative revenue and production goals set forth by the General Manager and Director of Sales. Responsible for following all KHC policies and procedures as set forth in the KHC handbook and property specific guidelines/standards. These policies include dress code, safety and performance standards. Employees must also maintain a professional image and report to work as scheduled. Participation in the Manager on Duty (MOD) program. Direction of all banquet and catering staff members. This position will be acting management over the sales staff in the Director of Sales' absence. Education and/or experience includes associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have valid driver's license and proof of insurability. Physical demands include standing, using hands to handle, grasp or type, talking or hearing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, sitting, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending or twisting, smelling, and pushing, pulling or lifting over 10 pounds. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
